I’ve been looking up alot of stuff about drawing anime and manga, and I was just wondering if anyone on there that knows how to draw manga has any tips or tricks. I’m a noob at drawing but i’m going to try.

Also, if anyone on here draws anime or manga, can I see some pictures of your drawings?

Start with deciding if you want to do the whole SD (super deformed) or regular style Manga.

Practice the eyes first and get a feel for them then start working on the head shape. There are some great tutorials on the net to see you right. Next, work with hair until you get a good style going.

Practice the body next and do some research on the clothes styles you want and get a feel for how fabric is supposed to flow and fold over the limbs and torso.

Thats about it really. Practice makes perfect.

I need to start with the very, very basics.

uhhhh... I’ve drawn Anime characters before... Some of these are kinda old... like 2-3 years. In fact, only Kakashi and Naruto are less then a year old.

draw lightly.
dont erase(erasing kills ur rhytym, like for example, if ur driving(drawing) an u keep stepping on the brakes(erase) every 5 secs ur passenger will be like wtf man?!).
look at what ur drawing 90% of the time an only glance at ur paper 10% of the time.

at least thas what my art teacher told me. i guess it helps with drawing everything, cept ur imagination.

Hmm then you must be pretty good. lol.

I worked on the faces today in math and history class, and I drew some awesome faces for my first anime drawing ever... man I need to learn how to draw the rest of the body and everything. I’ll work on that tomorrow.

really you need to learn how to draw properly before your anime/manga characters will look really good.

by properly, I mean by drawing real things and people, not just cartoon characters designed by people with a degree in art and design or animation

Yeah I noticed that the hands are the hardest part to draw... so are the clothes.

I had a reference for each image, but I didn’t use any tools to help with them.

What was your reference? I used my Shonen Jump books as examples of how to draw things. There are alot of different styles i’ve noticed.

The Red XIII came from the picture in the Final Fantasy VII strategy guide.

The Inuyasha came from a game manual for a PS1 game.

The Buu... I don’t remember where it came from...

The Naruto and Kakashi came from some naruto book my brother had.

But tracing paper wasn’t a part of any of these pictures.
