Me and Crimson Balde have quite a bit of experience with this.
So imma make a tutorial.
Making Animated Sigs
1. Download Pivot 3.
Pivot was originally a program used to make stick figure animations, but in version 3, they let you add sprites. Go to http://www.mediafire.com/?8bqnsqn4oo9 to download it.
2. Get the sprite sheet you want.
I recommend The Spriters Resource, but it really doesn’t matter, you can use whatever sprites you like.
3. Save your sprites, then open them in Paint. ...Ya. Click on the section you want, find your sprites, save em, and open in Paint. I’ll be using Samus.
4. Pick a background, words, etc for Pivot, and make then sig size.
For getting the background, find a background, save it, then go to Pivot 3>File>Load Background. Then click on options and adjust the screen size. Write the text you want in Paint, then save it as a sprite. Go to Pivot 3>File>Load Sprite.
For background
For Sprites
For adjusting screen
5.Select the sprites you are going to use, with the “Select” option on paint.
After selecting, right click and press “Copy to”. Name them properly, etc, “samusshoot1, samusshoot2” This will be alot more organized and less confusing when you actually go to animate later on.
6. Now that you’ve got your sprites, it’s time to animate!
In Pivot 3, go to load Sprite. Select your sprites. Use next frame, and the sprites that you need when you want.
7. Save your animation as a GIF.
Go to File>Save Animation.
Where it says “Save as Type” at the bottom, select “Animated Gif”. Where it says Resize, put it to 100% (if you want it to stay the same size) and press ok.
Upload it to an image hosting site, and you’re DONE!
And here is the finished product... It was just a sample, so it’s really crappy. But with time, you can make way better sigs.
