Just wondering. The Birth of Venus isn’t pornography, yet it has a completely naked woman. Where is the line?

I sort of see the difference as intent. Is it meant to be looked at and appreciated for the artistry skill, or is it meant to be fapped to? Usually that bleeds down into slight differences of how it looks and what content is involved.

Art speaks to the patron. Pornography speaks to the prurient interest of the viewer. Art has meaning. Pornography is just sex. The naked body is beautiful but when the point of the picture is just to view two people having sex as the main focus it is pornography.

Porn usually involves nakedness, provocative position, explicit revealing of privates in a “dirty” way, the action of sex, etc. While art is usually more still and focused on shape more than explicit showing of parts in attempt to make on jizz in their pants.

Where is the line between intent and how one perceives the said intent?

Typical stuck-up asshole who thinks having a sex drive makes you stupid and using long words nobody would ever use in a normal conversation makes him smart.

in classical painting, a naked female figure will nearly always be displayed with eyes facing away from the “camera”, no body hair, and always with the hair down and wavey, as in titian’s venus of urbino (1538)

the woman appears accessible but not provocative. (note the sleeping dog, this is symbolism for fidelity, with the dog as a loyal figure. also note the servants in the background, depicting the woman’s wealth as a courtesan)
buuut lets take a look at Edouard Manet’s Olympia.. (1863)

the woman is looking directly into the “camera”, everythings very upright with harsh lighting and lines, and her hair is tied back, also she has some small items of clothing on. the black cat with the arched back is symbolism for promiscuity. everything is very flat and is designed to make you feel a bit uncomfortable.
this was really pushing the boundaries back in the 1860s, and was cordoned off from the rest of the show it was in, with an “view at your own risk” sign.
