I have a silly rank Rep: 63 Joined: 03 Nov 2003 Posts: 1,485 | Still taking suggestions. It may be up to one or two weeks before a final decision is made, but so far I like some of the ideas (members only forum, forum for creativity - with special moderation rules!). I dont know about the vs. forum yet.
But please also include suggestions for names of the forums that you would like to see. Ie. some names for the members-only forum could be: “Lounge” or “On-Topic”.
Oh and, just venting another idea: a forum for the MVC clan only? (also with special moderation) I could even set up http://clan.moviecodec.com/ to redirect to it... ---

HOLY SHIT IT WAS LUPUS! Rep: 112 Joined: 06 Jan 2006 Posts: 49,513 OFFLINE | I’m not completely sure about having a forum for the MVC clan, as it is. The clans aren’t very active here. If anything, you could create a sub-forum in the games section and allow special access that can be awarded by Xtrm or other clan leaders. ---

But I could see an arts/literature/creativity die very quick but you never know.
I also agree with A vs forum.
How about a spam forum lol? No post increase though. ---

That is something I haven’t really thought about. A spam forum would be nice, and it could actually help prevent spam in other sections. ---

I think most people who do spam are aiming for ill intent in the first place, so it’s likely they won’t simply move it to the spam section.
Even the people who don’t will likely not move it. ---

I’m not talking about the people who create several topics for the intent of spamming. I’m talking about general spam that we see every day. Getting WAY off topic, creating a single pointless thread, or just being an idiot.
Three things which almost everybody is guilty of. ---

Could be done by hand (Bjarne cleaning up whenever he feels like it) or automatic (takes more work on part of the server and may slow things down if it keeps track of expiration date of every single post - maybe 1st of every month empty everything past the 4th page in spam category?) Topics moved there would expire too. (Makes a good garbage bin).
Historical footnote: When off-topic started I suggested that off-topic topics expired after some time too, since they were not on the topic of codecs. (Don’t hate me for it... I never foresaw it’d grow so much and become the bulk of the site!)

Anime-Forums allows a spam thread that gets deleted once it reaches so many posts. That is probably a better idea IMO than having a whole thread dedicated to it.
We should have the arts/literature/creativity forum named “The Arts” or “Creative Works”. ---

Oh you means new section in the forum. I thought you meant an entirely new site haha. A new section.
Sports section maybe haha. ---

Members-only
Art/Creativity (and I assume that includes music)
VS Section (because I’m tired of seeing the Games section full of them)
Spam forum
Clan forum (If we had a special place for it, maybe we’d discuss the clan more. If not, Bjarne can kill it)

Some people log off their accounts and come as a guest and say retarded things just to piss people off and not get caught. Is there a way to ban someone from a specific location or just the account being used? ---

They can have a IP ban as a guest which is more severe than a account ban. ---
