Speaking of this, what do we do right now when somebody impersonates another member? Since we don’t have the ability to force rename accounts yet do we give these people temporary bans until we’re able to name their account?
Let me put it this way. Anyone that has impersonated another member should have their account renamed, deleted, or anything of the like, and have things back to the way they were, except give admins the power to give out name changes, but that’s just me.
I agree somewhat that members probably shouldn’t be able to rename their own accounts.
But this doesn’t answer the question about what to do to members that impersonate. Good example is here
Skittles changed her account name to Skeetles. This person registered a Skittles account. I’m not sure what to do at the moment. I did ban the other imposters, but only because he was continously using it to get around the ban I gave him before for flaming/trolling/spamming/plagiarism.

Ban them, and have Bjarne to have the account either renamed or deleted, but that’s just my two cents.

Given my situation, I’d rather hae Bjarne’s permission before I go off using my own judgement on a matter such as this.

No, its to awsome to have that power right now. And the time limit completely keeps it under control.
Being able to rename an account is nice. However, it’s not nice when some little buttnugget can take an account they registered 3 months ago and never used, then rename it to something that was previously used or just does it to flame somebody.
Account renaming needs to be restricted. You should only be able to do it after you’ve got at least 1000 posts.

Or just let the admins do it. That sounds better if you ask me.

I say 10,000 posts or one year of being a member. It’s a special privilege.

Yeah, Admins SHOULD be the only ones able to do it. But somehow I doubt Bjarne would go for that after spending the time coding it to allow the members to do it.

No one said that it would be easy. Things take time to improve.

I disagree with your idea though. Power to the people, the admins wouldnt want to be bothered with tons of name change requests anyway.
just an idea...
at times, i feel as if the 300 max characters for your signature
isnt really enough...
on other forums,
they have the 500-600 characters,
and i feel it is better...
i use a bunch of small images and words in my signatures for those sites...

Neither does Bjarne, but he did it anyway.
He wanted to get rid of that so we could do it ourselves. He isnt going to bring the name change request thing back nor would I want him to.

It’s still stickied in the feedback section, lmfao.
