i got that too on some topics, it is if an admin is the one who created the topic. since they hold power over us section mods, we cant edit, lock, or delete any of their stuff.
Just published, here, a major change that changes the URL for all forums and topics to more readable and userfriendly.
For instance the feedback forum is now on:
http://lounge.moviecodec.com/feedback/[page number]
URL to this topic is now:
http://lounge.moviecodec.com/feedback/official-changes-topic-26765/[page number]
(26765 refers to the topic id, we cannot do without this because the forum does not require topic names to be unique)
(similar changes applies to all topics and forums)
This change is completed without (hopefully) breaking any functionality or breaking any existing URLs (if you “hit” an old URL it should simply redirect your browser to the correct new URL)
Also this change will likely find its way to www.moviecodec.com in the future, depending on reactions and experiences I get from it here.
Oh and ofcourse I am sorry for the 5-15 min downtime I managed to cause by this change, I applied the changes to the database and scripts in the wrong order :-(
This is way too long of a url. It MIGHT seem convenient, but it isn’t.

This would be MUCH better. Do away with the topic name and simply have the topic id. It makes it’s shorter, a LOT shorter, a lot less messy looking, and it fixes a potential bug that I’ve had problems with in the past. And that’s the dashes in the url affecting bb codes. I’m not sure if it’ll do it here, but I guess we’ll find out when I type this message.
