Started blocking guest users listed on the Spamhaus Block List and the DSBL list. This includes a lot of open proxies.

Implemented some design changes.
Pending feedback on these changes, one of the very next things that I will look into is adding one or two new forums.

I agree - the new changes are nice
. It makes navigation easier, and you don’t have to go back to the home page just to see who is online.

I love the idea Bjarne, but I have two problems.
1. On the home page, I think it would be better to have the downloads, download help, and popular downloads on the right side. To give it more symmetry. The Latest Posts should be in the center, not off to one side. I feel this makes it more pleasing to the eyes.
2. I think the side panel is too big when you go into the sections themselves. It takes attention away from the threads, which is bad IMO. I think making them skinnier would be excellent. I did a quick photoshop to give an idea about how wide it could be to look better.
*edit*
One last thing, I think the side bars shouldn’t be there when posting or editing a message. Seems weird when it just appears when you hit post reply.

The sidebar on the side of all thread list pages is annoying. I like Cid’s idea of shrinking it.

Maybe I’ll move the downloads menu to the right side of the front page, dunno yet.
Today (and during the previous days) I’ve been doing a lot of internal changes. Just report errors if you run into any.

I’d like to make a request for the report system be tweaked some.
Right now it shows;
There are XX reported posts over the past 72 hours!
Would it be easy to adjust it show to us how many reports were made since our last login instead of how many there are in all?

Is it just my browser, or did the side panel get inflated?
Oh, I see...
Bjarne, this could be an annoyance. The sidebar appears to be stretched, making the thread part really small, because someone has a pretty long name. Maybe, if the names go too far, they can be cut off. 10 or so characters. Unless its still just my browser.

No, that happened for me as well. It could be a potential problem.
Oh and, BTW Bjarne. I think the home page looks a lot better now.

Made the move to split the site into two parts:
www.moviecodec.com : main forums
lounge.moviecodec.com : all other (misc) forums
Please report any issues.
Over the comming time I will do several changes to the design.
If anyone can do graphics you’re welcome to come up with a new logo for the lounge (the current one is very crappy).

Oh... And before you start to ask about it, then yes: the search feature is currently disabled. I will fix it within this week.
Much like I made this lounge site, I can (and probably will) make a site for the MVC clan.
Each site can have different base designs and and each site can also have different themes. Eventually I will get to make them more different in looks (as well as having different themes).
Each site has a unique IP address (unless I run out of IP addresses
).
Full user profiles are only viewable on lounge.moviecodec.com. This is to avoid duplication of contents (which is not good).
The left-menu on www.moviecodec.com and lounge.moviecodec.com can and WILL BE be customized towards the different sites when I get the time (ie. there no need to link to the codec forums from the frontpage on lounge.moviecodec.com).
More forums will be added to lounge.moviecodec.com over the comming weeks.

I will re-establish the front pages, rss feeds and latest posts on user profiles as soon as I have figured out how to do it without laying waste to the database that is driving the site....
BTW the database is growing rather big! Now it’s at 855MB with over 1,5 million records
