I know this proberly wont work but i wonder if we can have a place for just people who can talk like adults theres a lot of children just messing about at the moment and i know your loseing the older people because they cant stand the children who ruin decent conversasions.
But i do want to point out that everyone including the young ones have a right to do and say what they want but im sure that most of there topics have no intrest to older members and they need a place to go as well.
I have nothing against a bit of a lagh but i think you know what i meen.
The idea is interesting but I don’t think it’s really an age thing. I’m not an adult, but I still enjoy a nice serious conversation every once in a while as do a lot of the younger people here, by creating a section for people over the age 18 you’re doing the young but mature members an injustice.
Besides all of that the idea is nearly impossible anyway, the section would have to appear for people over a certain age, but you can go into your profile and change you age. The only way I can see it working is by making a special subclass similar to a Moderator in which only people in that class can post in a forum. Even then though it might require too much effort because the only way to ensure that you don’t somebody ignorant in that class is by Bjarne putting them into it, and I’m not sure if Bjarne has the time to go through and pick out the members he thinks is mature enough to be allowed inside.
Maybe he could let the Mods be able to do it as well? It could be easier because then a Moderator would have the ability to add and subtract people from that user class...
Hmm I think that makes a lot of sense Cid - especially the idea of basing it on maturity, rather than age.
I suppose the only way to really practically implement it would be to have an “invitation only” section...whether people get invited would depend upon applying or observed behaviour in the rest of the forums.
The only drawback is that one of the things I like so much about Moviecodec is that we don’t exclude anyone.

As much of a nice, true fact that nobody is excluded in the site, Tuscan1 is right, sometimes (and I am guilty of a many of these times) people who aren’t exactly the most mature come into a perfectly good, mature-based topic and do what they normally do with it.
I for one think it would do good, doubt it would hurt much. (besides the programming issues that I naturally have no clue about)
Come to think of it if we were to base whether people are invited and then allowed to stay on their behaviour, then we really wouldn’t be excluding anyone. It’s up to the individual if they want to display an appropriate level of maturity. But I still agree with Cid that perhaps it shouldn’t be on the basis of age, but rather it should include people who are able to discuss a topic seriously (not that we can’t laugh and joke sometimes too).
Of course all of this is up to Bjarne in the end whether he would want something like this.
Geez i realy must check the feedback section more often
I recon this would be a good idea, however i think a good way of structuring it would be this...
Give everyone access to the maturity(o whatever it may be called) section of moviecodec. Then have a warning system on where a Moderator can warn someone if they are being to “sily”
Two warning and you are out of the section for a period of say a week. Then they are allowed back in. If they re offend, hey are out for good, unless they are invited back in by a MOD.
This method gives everyone a chancwe and the benefit of a doubt for their maturity on subjects.
This way, if they blow it, they can still use the rest of the forum and nobody is initialy excluded. The only way you will not be able to enter is by basicly, NOT BEING MATURE AND RUINING THE THREADS CONTAINED.
I think this way is non discrimitory and gives everyone equal ground to start on
