This forum needs a few more things....
1. The ability to send private messages to each other. This is especially efficient when a moderator needs to communicate something to another poster or vice versa.
2. The ability to see who’s online. One of the drop down menu tabs could be “whos online” and clicking it shows everyone who is online and what thread they are currently viewing right now etc.
3. A Chat room, like a Java applet, where people can participate in real-time conversations etc.
4. The ability in your profile where all the threads you post in or choose to watch become available in a list inside your profile or user-panel....it could be called “subscribed threads”. So that one doesnt have to bookmark anything, moviecodec’s user panel automatically does that. So when people log in, they can go there, and see if anyone has added any new comments etc. Any new posts are usually bolded and appear top most.
5. A clickable menu called “todays new posts” or something, where if someone wants to see what the main popular talking points are they can click there and it will list in order new post additions every minute thruout the whole moviecodec site of different forums. Just one “todays new posts” that lists the most recent active threads across “games', 'movies', 'off-topic', etc. That way, people who usually only post in one or two threads can actually click “todays new posts” any minute and see if there are any potentially interesting topics/threads worth reading/posting in.
6. Perhaps a moviecodec calendar, that is run by the moderators, which is where they and bjarne can point out specific events of interest.
7. Perhaps a rating system where people can click on any post that someone has posted and give a thumbs up or thumbs down on it if they want, and it just tallies up a user-rating on this whole website. This can be misused but it’s an interesting idea maybe that can sort out who has the most credibility etc on the site.

Hmm I think a few of these have already been suggested and shot down, however this did give me an idea...
How about instead of a rating system for threads, it could be a report button? (this would only work really well if PMs are availible, sense I know Bjarne has been playing with the idea) Each post would have a report button on it, so that if somebody posts something inappropriate instead of waiting for a mod to happen upon it or somebody creating a thread for it, thet could click that button and a PM about the post would be sent to all the mods.

gg you are God! I agree with you. Those things would make me quit Myspace. And Bjarne might actually get a hell of alot more people. And who knows Moviecodec might get as big as MySpace. lol

There already is a thing for “new posts," that’s the front page. It doesn’t show off topic topics of game section topics, since this site, after all, is about Movie Codecs.

Some of the problems with some of the suggestions is mostly about the level of server usage. Some of those features requires a lot of bandwidth, and while they may be nice, I’d rather take a fast site with no extras than a slow one with plenty of extras.

I have no idea what red vs blue site is. I got this idea from a football site in Australia.
In fact, I saw an even better idea that I would like to suggest...
Infraction system
When a member breaks the rules (and a moderator sees the post) a moderator can apply an infraction which, much like a driver’s licence, costs you points. These points last for a certain period of time, then they expire.
As your infraction points mount up you lose privileges. At, say, 5 points you might lose the ability to make new threads. At 10 points, you may lose the ability to post videos/pics. At 20 points, say, you lose all privileges apart from viewing threads.
As the points expire your privileges are returned automatically. The expiry date might be a point a day.
This means there is accountability for moderators and users in the banning/suspension system.
