Why can't we use bb code?

Seroiusly, its awesome.

Well, this is not vbulletin or phpbb or whatever. It is a “homemade” forum script highly optimized for speed (low cpu usage). That which you speaks of would put some extra stress on the server. I am however contemplating expanding on the script and I do have an idea on how to implement lots of different codes without affecting <i>browsing</i> performance in any way (basically save posts as raw text/code and generated html if codes are turned on for that particular post).
