We can get this site back to its days of glories and off its knees.
Starting with:
Reviewing ALL moderators
Updating the rules
Deleting inactive threads to increase speed and clensiness of site
Considering new upgrades for the site
Most of us come here quite frequently and it would be nice to communicate in a more productive environment and not just witness flaming and stupidity.
Any Ideas? Don’t be shy.
Ideas

One big problem I see is consistency. And this really isn%u2019t the fault of the admin...it%u2019s difficult logging in and knowing who has been warned already because we don%u2019t have a way of keeping track of this.
- The rules could definitely be a little stricter and/or clearer...but we can really only suggest this. Bjarne makes the rules in the end.

- I still feel Bjarnes should add a section strictly for Moderator posting. It could be any easy way for moderators to discuss something as a group without having it flung out in the open.
- The best sites I’ve ever been too, are sites where the rules are enforced strictly. A site that has class and an admin team that has your respect.
- Some kind of warning system. Like Etain said, they can be marks, maybe 3 strikes and you’re out? When a Moderator goes to ban someone, they get two choices. Add a mark to this member, if they did something small, like some spam, or straight up ban them if they did something really bad. Like post porn or something.
- Bjarne still needs to fix up the sections for this site.

A idea that I saw on another forum..have a bunch of sticked topics that cover a broard range on things under an umbrealla heading..kinda like the main topic of the mvc of old.
Say, one thread on christianity, one on muslims, one on superman vs anyone and everyone..
people can follow or bookmark their arguments and discusions within the thread and if they’re leaving it, they can just see on their account page the last bunch of pages they were on and go from there.
it requires a bit of management by members, but thats not a bad thing.
It would be like the rap battel thread or the whos on here at the mo topic or the old religion topic of 06.
It would streamline the forum and we could lock or stop new thread being created thatwere essentially duplicates of existing discussions.
Theory behind it is..we have say 100 members scattered across 50 rooms, many of them similar, only conversing in little groups of two or three..how about we take those 100 members and stick them into a room together. Not only can they still form their groups but we save on electricity from powering a bunch of rooms with little or no human occupation.

The inactivity and delayed response time compared to 06/07? The activity of interesting conversations and rewarding learning experiences. The respect each member gave to each other and/or the interesting and controlled heated debates.
I don’t see any of it anymore, half the moderators aren’t even on which makes it seem like No-one cares about this site.
There are soo many things and opportunities that we can accomplish if we all see eye- to eye.

Agreed. Only thing is that updating the rules should be first, then reviewing all moderators/admins (as the new rules can possibly improve some of the way the admins run, though the chances for it to be major are small), upgrades should be considered last. (deleting inactive threads can be considered with this)
That’s my two cents anyway.
As for flaming, and the rules in general, I’d rather see them be WRITTEN stricter as a sort of buffer, because the mods (and I’ve seen this on a few sites) seem to enforce the rules more leniently than they’re written, so they’re actually not as hard as they seem. It also allows for those who are more problematic to be dealt with more efficiently.

Yeah most of this forum is endless flame wars nowadays.

I’m going to go ahead and just say, no.
Why?
Because it’s not happening. We’ve tried for over a year, and Bjarne and a majority of the members are too lazy to do anything.
MvC will remain the shit hole it is.

Lets not forget that I got hacked and subsequently demoted for this very thing too.
I’d watch out if I were you Chris.

I can see more gain (and therefore incentive) from hacking an admin than hacking a member.

The latter part was a joke.

Things like that always travel poorly through text. >.>
Anyway, best way to do this is be forward with it. Don’t let the issue drop, keep the thread up, put all the major things, summarized, into the first post, keep it polite (as possible), but keep the attention on it. (more to Chris)

Yeah, I’ve pushed this shit 2-3 times in the last several years. Maybe if somebody else pushes it instead it’ll get more attention and something will get done.

The best way to bring this forum back up to how it was beofre is start contributing to better topics of discussion. All it seems to be now is vs, anime and god topics.
There are no really good discussion topics like there was back in 2006, where conversations were good and debates on interesting topics reigned surpreme.
The reason we get lag is due to the massive overflow of topics that people create. Its not uncommon to see 50-60 new topics in a matter of a few hrs, yet back in 06, there were only around 10 new topics a day if that.
The forum is overcrowded with massive amounts of dead threads that have one or two posts and nothing else.
The members don’t know how to exhibit restraint..creating massive amounts of topics for no real reason but impulse which drives off the other topics and then drives off the other members.
This is why the forum has started going down hill ever since the start of 07 and has now progressivly gotten worse.
Sure you can skitch the mods onto them, but we should’t have to decide whats good and whats not to clean this place up..its up to the members to think before they create or post..but as nevin said...its not going to happen cause the majority of site members are too lazy and inconciderate to make a change..they just shit everywhere and wonder why the forum stinks the way it does right now..if each memnber went to the toilet instead of squatting down and laying a turd whereever they felt like, we wouldn’t be in this mess.
Long story short, its time for the members to start wiping their own asses and act potty trained, cause its not the job of the mods and admins to wipe your asses and pick up all your shit.
Mods and admins exist to clean up spam, enforce the rules and generally help out..and somewhere along the line, you all have forgotton that and look at us as the sole sollution for all your problems.
exhibt some self restraint and start cleaning up after yourselves..its not our job..the responsibility lies with you..as it says in the rules..
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR EVERYTHING YOU POST!

I think this approach is much better than the method you have used in the past Cid. He’s actually promoting this information at a time where he is a neutral party, in contrast to when you used to promote it, which was always directly after either being banned or demoted from a position of power. R E A L I T Y actually has a shot at making a difference, don’t soil it by claiming 'you were there first'.

Please don’t use how often we post as how active we are. We are online a lot, LOT more often then you think.
