Remedy: “Apologies” for Alan Wake delay

Monday 18-Aug-2008 3:02 PM Things haven’t gone as smoothly as planned, explains developer

It was May 2005 when Alan Wake was first revealed. That was over three years ago, so where the bloody hell is it?

Well, it’s still coming, says Remedy. Just slowly. It’s been a bumpy ride explains the developer, who has today apologised for taking so long.

“We feel we owe you all a small heads up, and our apologies for lack of updates," says Remedy.

“Yes, we’re still here and working hard on getting Alan Wake for you to enjoy. Sure, we’ve been in development for a long time and if everything had gone perfectly smoothly there probably would be a game out for you guys to play already.

“But designing a completely new game can be hard, and sometimes you need to take a detour to find the best route forward."

Earlier this year Remedy debunked rumours that the game was to finally release in September, saying it’ll be released “when it’s done”.

So how far off is it now? “We want to entertain you guys in the best possible way and our team is putting in every effort possible in order for that to happen. That is the way Remedy wants to do things. I’m sure you will enjoy Alan Wake when we’re done," reads the statement posted on the game’s official forum.

So, still no ETA then.

Go Rememdy

Haha apology not accepted. Every dev always comes out and says that its being delayed because they want to make it the best. There has only been a few projects ever for that to happen.

What really probably happened. The game was submitted to the publisher and they deemed it shit. It’s what happened to Red Steel 2, Killzone 2, and probably Alan Wake. Meaning they had to completely revamp it. Probably what has happened to a lot of games over time that just take forever. That is why a lot of publishers won’t announce a game until they got something really solid on it because otherwise ya get this.
