It is agaisn’t Nintendo Policy to have games with AO ratings, unless it has the rating lowered, you won’t be seeing Manhunt 2 on the Wii...

SONY said the same about their console, but I think they have AO games anyways.

It’s better that way. They’ll look pretty bad allowing that stuff on their consoles.

AO games are full of sex or ridiculous amount of disturbing gruesomeness.

And?

It’s kinda stupid to keep it from being an AO game.

No it isn’t. They tone it down, people don’t complain, it’s less gruesome, more sells, less bashing by the media.

True, but its not wise to say “This game can’t be on our console!", especially when your console is paraded with kiddy stuff.

Not until it’s rated M. wink

It’s wiser to say that then to allow games that go overboard on your console. It at least gives you a clean public image.

Adult’s Only on a game system where the fanbase is moslty non-adult is pretty dumb. I’d want it lowered too.

Pete Da Beast- No Sony doesn’t allow AO rated games and they don’t have them on there. The only console release AO rated game was San Andreas and that game started off with an M rating until the hot coffee scene emerged.

Nintendo, Sony, and MS have a policy that say they do not let AO rated content on their consoles. It’s politics really and right now it’s the good decision. Fight politics another day. Get a good game released now and try to win a war.

THX Zucas, didn’t know MS also had this policy.

My guess is that they’ll lower or convince ESRB to lower it to M rating... I eman, can this game really be THAT bad? (in the sense of gruesome...).

I would think not. And usually why titles get AO is cause of sexual content not gore.

There is no choice. They either lower the rating or cancel the project altogehter. Cause PS2 and Wii won’t get it if it has an AO rating. And even if they would no retailers would have supplyed the game.

What Rockstar should do is start to work on a lesser version but also appeal to the ESRB after they make their final rating. Also appeal to Ireland and UK’s decision as well.

Im pretty sure there’s no sexual content in the game, which is why iI asked how gruesom the game could be. If there is any sexual content, then they’ll have to remove it, and its all fixed.

Well I have heard only one thing about that. According to the UK guys that there is a sex scene in the game. Now if it has no control and they didn’t mention nudity it can’t be all that bad. And there have been sex scenes in games before and that never gained an AO rating. And the ones that did get an AO rating meaned you had control or nudity in it. And still games really today can have nudity and keep an M rating.

So it doesn’t sound like something that would have pushed it over.

Actually they didn’t say that. Here is what they actually said and why they banned it in the UK:

Manhunt 2 is distinguishable from recent high-end video games by its unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone in an overall game context which constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing. There is sustained and cumulative casual sadism in the way in which these killings are committed, and encouraged, in the game.

That is no reason to ban a game. Not when there are worse movies there that are shown in every theater. And that doesn’t sound like anything that would get an AO rating.

Violent video games don’t cause people in real life to kill other people in real life... unless it’s being played by an incredibly stupid dumbass.
