based on sony so far, do you think sony will catch and possibily win in the end?

I have never even owned a sony console, but i still believe they might do better by end this year or early next year. What do you think about this?

I don’t think so. I haven’t seen anyone suggest a legitimate reason as to how Sony could possibly catch up.

You want my opinion? Since Sony already stated they will NOT cut down their PS3 price, unless they release a version without so many useless gadgets (blu-tooth, WHAT DA FUCK?) and cut their price down, they won’t be able to catch up.

Ir all really depends on the price of the PlaySation-Eye and if it works or not. That’s really the only thing PS3 fans are holding their breath for.

I do think Sony could win but it would be market shares of about a 30/30/30 split. The reasoning behind this is that America is going to be pretty evenly split and so will Europe. It’s all going to really come down to Japan. So if PS3 can take a lead in Europe and Wii can take a lead in Japan it would about even out.

But if were asking can Sony win by a landslide then no. There is about a 0.01% chance that Sony will win this console wars by the same means PS1 and PS2 did. But for Sony to win the PS3 is going to have to make huge leaps and bounds in the European market cause it’s not going to get huge sales at all in japan. Wii has taken over that place. And in America it’ll be pretty evenly split all the way around by about 2010. Sony has to make large progress in Europe. If they don’t thne this generation will go to Wii easily. I mean if ya give me awhile I could give number situations to better help explain.

I see Sony fans act like PS3 will magically skyrocket without giving any reasons. Sony already lost America and Japan, the two biggest markets. Sony’s only hope is a price cut, and if I remember correctly they said a price cut isn’t coming anytime soon.

Well there is no way that Sony will all of a sudden skyrocket. Soon it will start saling better but in no way skyrocket. The days of Sony ruling without anybody to compete with them is gone. If they win this gen they will not win by much.

I agree to your points, i admit i am a hardcore microsoft fan, I like my 360, i have had it for almost a year, but when i walk in walmart and see 3 ps3’s sitting there, ya know, the console someone got SHOT over....you get what i am saying? For example if someone got a ps3 no one would care, but if there was a wii and someone got it, there would be a fight over it.

The wii will win at this rate, its because nintendo is a very succesful company, they revived gaming, so bascially if it wasnt for nintendo, xbox or playstation wouldn’t be here, and nintendo is full of innovative ideas each generation, the gamecube probably wasnt the biggest leap in innovation, but it was a very unique console. The NES was very succesful with mario and zelda franchises and continues with new franchises with Wii.

the 360, the second (or third if you include the elite) console for microsoft is a powerful piece of equipment. Its in the middle right now. The price is smack in the middle, between the ps3’s and wii’s. The advantage of getting a 360 is there is a wide variety of games out for it. Some games even as low as $30 for new consumers to the 360.

With this summary, the wii is the most dependable company as of now.

Very interesting. Yes it’s going to be very interesting. I see shipments by the end of the year for all 3 consoles to be 360 with 17 million shipped, Wii 17 million shipped, and PS3 10 million shipped.

So PS3 will need a lot to catch up while Wii will pass up 360 in no time soon. Mainly due to the fact that 360 can’t sell outside of North America.

By the end of 2010 I do think a few things will have changed for the PS3. But first in Japan by the end of 2010 Wii will be in 1st with 13 million shipped at the least, PS3 4 million shipped, and 360 600,000 shipped. Very similar numbers to the battle of DS vs PSP in that country just at a slower pace.

As for Europe I see the Wii having shipped 11 million, PS3 9 million, and 360 7 million. So 360 will already be in 3rd and Wii will still be building off DS’s success there but PS3 will be right behind it. As for America Wii will have 14 million shipped, 360 15 million shipped, and PS3 about 12 million shipped.

As you can see a very close race all around but these are all very rough numbers. I really can’t make accurate predictions for after the end of 2007 until really after. I need to see how that holiday season unfolds. But on a rough by the end of 2010 Wii sill have about 50 million shipped, PS3 about 40 million shipped, and 360 about 35 million shipped. This has no corrolation to those numbers up there by the way.

I mean it’s very rough to predict but I still see Wii ahead because it’s so unique to it’s competitors it puts it in a seperate section of the console wars box. PS3 will definetly give out a good fight.

but the main points to understand that in America it will pretty much be a 33/33/33 split. In Europe it will be about a 45/35/20 split. But the victory is going to come in Japan where it’s going to be more like an 80/19/1 split.

Actually I believe that Sony will catch up within a year or so, it’s a very huge brand and people have come to trust it. Right now people are being turned off by the $600 price tag, but it should be dropping to about $500 within the next few months. (source) Chances are people are trying to scrape together the $600 right now, which is why it hasn’t experienced a huge boost in sales. I for one know several people who are currently saving up for one (of course these people also had to save up for a Wii, so they’re probably not good examples)

Also, Sony still has some huge franchises under their belt. Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, and Gran Tourismo are all huge and will probably give a hand into selling it.

I don’t think they will beat the Wii, but I have little doubt that it’ll beat the 360.

Keep in Mind in japan alone people are buying the wii over the PS3 7 to 1. There is hardly any chance for it to catch up right now. Back during the launch of these systems IGN even said the PS3 would no be the system to compete witht the 360, they said the wii would be the system to compete with the 360.
