Capcom being attacked for racism.

I can understand why any black people of any nationality would be upset. After all, you are the white hero and you are killing black people, or more accurately, Africans. That scenario is especially discomforting since black Africans have been abused by white people for years and years.

However, I find the complaint stupid and irrational.

For one, racism is actually voluntary. It really isn’t racism here, its circumstance. Capcom wanted a different setting, and that was Africa. To stick to realism, you have to have the majority race there. There are white people in Africa too, but who knows how (or if) they are represented in the story.

If you read the link that Joystiq gave to the actual blog that is complaining, you notice they are hypocritical. They went so far as to say that white people should be the only ones killed (something in that context, not an exact quote).

What do you think? Should Capcom keep the game going, scrap it, or edit it?

I think personally the game should continue as is. If these people want racism, they’ll keep on looking for it.

I decided to read up on the battles going on about this.

Its truly pathetic to say the least. The author of the blog post Joystiq links to, Kym, and her cohorts are fools and corrupt. For one, after the original blog post, a second was made that attacked gamers. This blogger, in fact, tried to say gamers were going to start Columbine all over again. She earlier quoted about 6 quotes out of hundreds, each demeaning gamers as a whole. She completely ignored the fact the majority of the comments had actually been well thought out criticisms of Kym’s foolish post and their ignorance.

It should also be noted that none of these complainers even know anything about the series. Some Village-whazit blog writer tries to say this game is intentionally paralleling the AIDS/HIV epidemic and using quotations from the trailer (obviously from Chris' mind) to say that Chris is against the people because they are black. Too bad the plotline is obviously the same as previous ones.

I would have us go and comment (with all tact and reason) on the site, but, comments seem to be closed since the bloggers couldn’t handle the fact that most of the angry comments were not spam, but in fact very good comments that refuted the original complaint near perfectly.

I have little hope for humans after this. Maybe the sun should hurry up and expand and kill us, that way all this stupidity would end. But then again, if that happened, I wouldn’t be able to play Resident Evil 5, not giving a fuck who I kill.

Not to be off-topic, but has anyone noticed that this game has a bunch of enemies chasing you down? Does, anyone have the feeling that they will have a cult group similar to the Los Illuminados? Anyways, in the game, the enemies would just about kill or attack anyone coming to their village. Even if they are black,white,asian,hispanic, etc. Ask the women, “What would you do?" Reason for peace?, but instead you have an axe flung right at your head, or get strangled?
