Just a case study and I want to see what ya think of it. Social experiment without the physical interaction. And of course it’ll lead into a point but until then work with me.
Anyways long time Wii and PC gamer decides to get a PS3. Due to limited funds he buys one game with it... Metal Gears Solid IV. Bought this because he heard this was the best title. Gets through the title and loves it.
Thus at first he loves the PS3 off of the basis of playing that one game. Then he buys two more games. LittleBigPlanet, Call of Duty 4, and Motorstorm. After a week of playing them he doesn’t like any of the titles. Actually most of them he detests. His opinion has slowly changed.
He then looks at the rest of the lineup and sees nothing else that interests him. He replays MGS4 one more time and doesn’t touch the console for awhile. After a couple of months, he trades it in and buys a 360 instead. He then talks to his friend about not liking the console and that its awful.
Now here’s the question. Is it justified? After that scenario is it justified for him to spread the hatred about that console? Is justice happening right now?
I think that he is justified in trading it in for a 360 if he could find no good games that he liked for it. But the the 360 has pretty much the same games...
Anyway, he can display his displeasure due to the console not having any games that meet his requirement of “good”.

It’s meant to be analogy to that as well but its really also somethign to connect 360 and PS3 differences as well which is why I ended with the 360 and not anything else.

so why is it justified?
Its justified since he tried out the top tear games on each of the most popular genres. If he bought a system and only played one game with it, then he is justified to express his disappointment about the games he did not like. However, other peoples opinions may differ and they may be ignorant.

Secondly, it also has to do with which console is your primary one. You are more apt to buy more games for a primary console. In this case Ps3 was the new thing and it gets the backburner compared to the Wii and PC. It’s not that he didn’t like it, its just because it wasn’t the primary console it wasn’t given the opportunity to like it.
In the end to decide whether you like a console, you have to support it as if it were a primary console.
Personally I’ve only bought 5-6 games on 360 and really not much else interested me. But I was smart enough to recognize the console as my secondary one and not rant on it thereof. Same with my DS. Just because you don’t support it as a primary console doesn’t mean it’s not capable of being one.

He didn’t try out Uncharted, Valkyrie Chronicles, Resistance 1 and 2, ect. He didn’t try out much actually.
But your opinion is noted that his opinions are based off ignorance because of his limited trial of the console.

But yea basically this thread is just so people understand that if you don’t treat your consoles like a primary one then it’s more than likely you’ll miss out on key games that would change your opinion otherwise. And if after supporting it like a primary one you still don’t like it, then your opinion is justified and no one will ever have problems with ya. But most people never get there, or if they do they usually end up liking it.

I have all consoles from 5th generation on. Except DS and 360.

considering two of the titles were the best of, i’d say it’s fair.
