I played it for 8 hours straight today. No bathroom break, no food or water, I might have blinked a couple times. In fact, the only reason I’m not playing it now is because the battery died.
From what I’ve got so far... IT ABOUT ZACK!
Fag. Geeze.
j/k
The story revolves around SOLDIER Second Class Zack Fair, you’ve seen Advent Children. He’s the guy Cloud kept seeing in his dreams and who walked out with Aerith at the end of the movie. At the beginning of the game, SOLDIER First Class Genesis had betrayed ShinRa and took a handful of SOLDIER 1st and 2nd Class with him. Angeal, Zack’s mentor, Sephiroth’s best friend, and who grew up with Genesis also disappears early on the game. I’m actually not very far into the story, been doing a lot of bonus stuffs so far. But the basic concept is that it shows you why Zack is the person Cloud pretended to be.

How are the controls? Good, bad, make your fingers hurt?
I adapted VERY quickly to them. It’s pretty much a button masher, tap x a bunch with the occasional hitting L or R to switch between special abilities, magic, items, or normal attack. If you’re not completely smash mouth you can use the dodge button which is Square or the Guard button which is triangle. But it’s not detrimental to gameplay.

Is the whole game just 2D fighting then cinemas? Or can I travel and do other things?
Absolutely NONE of the game is 2D fighting, it’s more like Kingdom Hearts than anything, so far. But there’s a lot of fighting with random enemies, cut scenes, and the like. Once again, not too far into the actual game.

How long is it?
Well, I’ve sunk close to 8 hours into the game and I’m about 13 percent done.

How are the loading times?
Those suck HUGE HAIRY DONKEY balls. Sometimes, while you’re going from one chapter to the next can take 20 seconds or so to load. Doesn’t seem like a whole lot. But it’s crappy when you’re staring at a pure black screen for a while. There are also sometimes minor loads where gameplay will freeze in the middle of running for a second or two.

And throw in anything else you think I should know or find interesting.
The DWM thingy is pretty awesome. Random limit breaks during your fights. You could be fighting this weak little shit and suddenly BOOM DMW activates and deals massive damage through a special attack. This can happen several times in a single fight too. It seems completely random.
I suppose I’ll pick it up the weekend or next week. I recently purchased a 4GB Pro duo so I can have all my music, movies, and pics with plenty of space, and I’m not looking for a good game. Crisis Core sounds good.

Crisis Core IS good. Best of all, unlike Dirge or Cerberus... You don’t really need any prior FF7 knowledge to enjoy it. Since it happens before EVERYTHING else, there’s no quirky throwbacks to the original game.
Anyways, CC is probably the best game on the PSP. But only because I’m a HUGE FF7 fan.
Yeah, the uber shiny chrome one, where it has (who I think is Zack) standing up on the cliff with his sword going into the ground, with the city behind him.

Yup. That’s Zack, and that’s a special edition case only available at Best Buy.
Btw, I love that picture. It’s my desktop background.
KH is a more action oriented game whereas Final Fantasy games are slower paced and run on the classic Turn Based Battle system. They generally focus on character development over everything else and almost always include a deep rooted romance story.
