First of all I’d like to let you notice that the Europe/Other software charts are very different from that of the America ones. Notice something right off the back. 360 games don’t sell well here at all. And really the PS3 version of the or the PS2 version of the game almost always sales at the same amount or better, even with the difference of the hardware amount.
Secondly Wii software here isn’t as dominant, but still its games have huge legs compared to that of any other 7th generation platform in here. Thirdly DS games, especially Brain Training, sales beastly in here.
But the most important thing to take out of all this is that games in Europe/Other sale trend wise like that of games in Japan. The quirky DS titles and big name ones sale, sports games sales, and then dominant franchises sales. But there is not much open for new IPs and whatnot. Sales of Mass Effect tell that story. Only difference though is that IP’s based off another entertainment thing sell well here.
America is one of kind in its software sales, as the entire market is open. There is hardly any prejudice in America to any kind of game, genre, or new IP. While Japan and Europe/Other hardly buy those. Interesting comparisons.
