ok i have played half life , opposing force and blue shift and i recently played and beat half life 2 for xbox but how many years was gordon freeman gone what exactly happend to earth ,are the civil protection (aka cops) and over watch the marines from the first half -life or what and why do they wear gas masks are they human i would think but still I don’t know and why do those things with the red eyes and the green lighting they shoot on your side i beat this game but just wonderd cause the game never really said

earth was conquered by the combine after the 7 hours war. the combine are a race who conquer planets and infuse the inhabitants with their tech. they probally were contrlling xen in hl1. the overwatch are cybernetic humans who were taken off the streets and combined with tech and serve the combine. the civil protection are humans who volunerilly joined the combine and therefore did not have to be infused with tech. the red eyed things are the vortiguants. they are the same as from hl1 but they are on the humans side becuse gf freed them from the combine when he killed the ninhilith.

do you mean the ones in white helmats and black clothes? then no. those are the civil protection, humans who willingly joined the combine and there for did not have to be made into cyborgs.
no they really only have white suits and like one eye the way it looks like when i kill them their only on like the last 3 levels and allways with over watch.
