How has StarCraft became so popular in Korea?

I wonder, why the heck Korean gamers worship this game?

i love the game and play it on my run down pc. It was the only reason i didnt kill my old pc.

They worship it because it is the best game ever made.

Its probably the most balanced RTS in existence, with more strategy and technique required to be good than, well, any other RTS.

Maybe that has something to do with it?

Or Koreans just love whooping everyone else. I dunno.
