How to play .dem files from Counter strike source

YOU CAN RECORD CLIPS FROM YOUR DEMO AS YOU PLAY IT USEING FRAPS. FRAPS IS A TOOL THAT RECORDS ANY FPS RUNNING ON THE COMPUTER BY PRESSING F2 OR WHAT EVER HOT KEY YOU SET THE OPTION TO. THEN YOU PRESS IT AGAIN TO STOP RECORDING AND THERE YOU HAVE IT AN AVI FILE OF WHAT YOU RECORDED. BE SURE TO TO DL THE FULL VERSION AS THE FREE VERSION IS TEH SUCK.

Excuse me, can you help me, how to transfer(convert) a Counter Strike 1.6 .dem file to .avi file?I want to put my demo in Windows Mouvie Maker but it can’t read .dem files so it needs .avi files. Please help me!

when in your game (not online) weather it be DoD, DoDS, CS,CSS etc... goto console (~) and type Demoui

it brings up a video player and from there you can open any Demo you recorded or that someone else recorded and you wish to view.

10 Easy Steps to Your First Video from A .DEM File

Step 1 - Record your action using “record filename”

Step 2 - Notice that there is a .dem file in ur cstrike folder.

Step 3 - Get FRAPS.

Step 4 - Start FRAPS, set it to a higher FPS than 30FPS. 60 would be fine.

Step 5 - Start CSS. Type “playdemo filename”. When the DEMO starts to play, press ur FRAPS video capture key (F9). CSS will lag like ur using an ancient PC. Not really. Anyway, when the DEMO finished, press F9 again to stop FRAPS from recording.

Step 6 - Go to ur FRAPS folder or wherever you specified your output AVI to go to. There will be a crazily, beastly, awesomelyfull shit big sized AVI file (depending on the length). Double-click the AVI file and ka-zing, the Windows Media Player pops out from thin air and you have a AVI file of yourself owning some built-in bots.

Step 7 - Edit the video. Use Sony Vegas but if you have no idea what the heavens it is, use Windows Movie Maker. Edit it and save it.

Step 8 - Notice the big difference in the size of the video file.

Step 9 - Jump around while yelling “Hooray!" or run in little circles while waving both of your hands and scream quietly.

Step 10 - Repeat Step 1 to Step 10 until you get boring or you just have something better to do.

*Post it up on YouTube and tell the whole world.

First paste tat file in ur counter strike folder...
then in console type playdemo filename..
for eg:- if ur filename is 123 then type in console playdemo 123 n press enter...
it ll tk 4-5 sec to load n thn u can see ur video Njoy....

go in option in the demofreak and give it teh path for your hl.exe and under parameters in additional add "-game cstrike” without the commas
and it should work... all your .dem files.

first of all put all ur .dem files in C://program files/valve/cstrike folder..
den type in console:
viewdemo file_name.dem

ur done..view the dem files den!!!

you have to have the .dem files in the cstrike folder and then type in “playdemo demoname.dem” in the console of cs, it worked for me and should work for everyone else
