I’m really fucking tired of Windows Vista. Every time I play a game that runs on source the engine does not function properly and things like the background do not load, fucking up the game. Here’s an example:
I have had this problem since I got Vista, and I usually ignored it. Now, I can’t play Garrys Mod because it fucks the game up too much. If you can provide me WORKING directions on how to fix this I will buy you a month of Xbox live if you want.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 @2.13 GHz
4 Gigs of RAM
32 bit operating system (Vista)
Video Card is a Geforce 7300 LE
I never had any problems with this before Vista, so I know Vista is the problem.

1. Did you install Vista while you had XP, or did you clean your computer then install? Clean installs are much smoother and better then an upgrade.
2. Do you have the latest DirectX installed? Vista is an entire new OS based around the latest DX.
3. Do you have the latest drivers installed?
4. In the option settings for the game, do you have the DirectX mark clicked?

Yep, but a good reinstall usually fixes the issue.

I installed Vista while I had XP.

I know I have DirectX 10...
3. Do you have the latest drivers installed?
It’s looking for updates but it hasn’t found any yet. Still looking...

Not really sure. How can I check?

1. That may be the problem, but most likely not if your other games are working too.
2. While Vista does have DirectX10, it doesn’t have full earlier versions. Such as 8.1.
3. Go to Start > Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Device Manager > Click on Display Adapters > Click on your Graphics Card > There should be a button that looks for the latest driver online.
4. I’m going on memory here, so I may be wrong. Go to the game, click on settings/options, in the bottom right corner, there should be a DirectX box you can click. Clcik or unclick it and test the game. Is the game lagging when you play?
