is the wii still considered a console or a cheap gaming machine?
now that the ps3 is on life support, let’s talk about the two remaining competitors. ninty and MS.
we’ve seen consoles rise and fall and many a cheap gaming machine (tiger, fisher price, ect..) is the wii really a console?
ninty’s success as of recently has been do to cheap gaming. the ds is substaintually cheaper than psp and is killing the psp because of this. the games on both are lame but the psp is a joke with it’s tiny screen and huge price tag. the wii is also cheaper than 360 and it’s sales are benifitting from this, but let’s face it, the wii has been out of date since it’s arival. how log will this toy last in the real console world? gamers want progress and the wii isn’t providing.

perhaps expensive but users will love it and they’ll buy it
The PS3 and 360 are both multimedia devises. So when you get into it all technical like, then yes the Wii is a console because it’s primary function is to play video games.
Not be a computer and blue ray player and not to present high definition movies at a low cost. The Wii is for playing games.

I’m just voicing my opinion. the wii appears to be obsolite compared to 360. the silly controller looks to be short lived. parents are buying it for thier kids cause it’s cheap. what hapens when 360 goes down in price?

I know what you mean. I got sick of windows, bought a mac, and now i’m sic of apple! i’m gunna buy another pc soon! way to much drama. but i think apple would do the consumer right as a console machine.

Maybe people are buying the wii for these reasons and these reasons alone.
1. It is cheaper, but that is not the main one
2. It appeals to more people which is good, people like enjoyment so with games ranging from hardcore titles like Metroid Prime 3 to games like Big Brain Acadmey for older people and casual gamers it totally makes more sense. When you make a product it is usually best to try and range it onto all you can. Nintendo did exactly that.
3. It makes playing games easier, this is most likey the important one because it is much more then just pushing joysticks and buttons. It gets you more immersed in a game.
4. It gets good games, sure we have seen all the party titles and know how sports games will be, but graphics mean crap. If somthing has more power but does not use it the right way then it suffers. Power is not everything, look at the PS3 it is the most powerful console but it stinks right now. Sometimes less beats more. You don’t have to put 100% into every strike or you will be out of energy in no time and can get taken down. This is what Nintendo did to sony by using less they made more.
5. People like Innovation, mainly the key fact is when people play a game they want to see what it offers and how good it can be. The wii offers that
6. Finally if the wii is an inferior gaming console then the 360 and PS3 then those must suck 10 fold because they are getting beaten by a piece of crap as you say. Usually the system that sells the most is the superior one. In this case the wii may not have the upper hand graphics wise but it destroys the other two in terms of gameplay the most important part of a game.
I would’nt deny that the 360 is getting beten by a piece of shit. that piece of shit is half the price! if my kid was ok with a piece of shit I would get it instead of the 360, but my boy is spoiled and wants real games, not silly occupiers.

lol. ya. i have this inborn hatred for macs. i mean, i love ipods (though recognize that their sorta a rip off. mine was free, so i don’t care. XD), but, macs...ah. lol. and, as maddox says, one thing that pc users can do that mac users can’t seem to: “SHUT THE FUCK UP!"
Wii is definatly a game console. The thing about the Wii is it is not a PS3 or 360, the PS3 and 360 are hardcore consoles the Wii is all new. The Wii is by far the best console in my eyes because it has proven a big fact. Nintendo took a risk and it worked, the Wii is going to become the greatest console ever made if it continues at the pace it is going!
