Yes, it’s a Role Player. But SQUiP has a point. It is one of the biggest franchises out right now, and there have been plenty of commercials and ads all over that say right on it it is a role player.
Well Mass Effect isn’t much of an RPG, but it is a good franchise. However, Bioware game such as Baldur’s Gate, Knights of the Old Republic, Neverwinter Nights, and Jade Empire far surpass the Mass Effect series in terms of a solid experience and definite role playing games of their time. But Mass Effect is still a wonderful game, especially in the respect of characterization in video games.
I beat Mass Effect 2 a few days ago, and enjoyed it quite a bit, but about the same as I did Mass Effect 1.

They’re almost identical. Combat’s changed and leveling up is changed.
Not that that’s a bad thing.

but like in a fight, do you have to pick what the character does?
You mean like turn based? God no, it’s like a clunky gears of war with plasmids pretty much. It works well enough, but the story is what makes the game awesome, not the combat.

It worked for Final Fantasy VII, and all other turn based games I’ve played so far I’ve hated. I loved VII so much that I torrented VIII, and that game’s combat SUCKED.
