I don’t think that is the full ending, I mean it would kind of suck if that was the ending,
As far as triologies go in movies, books, or games it is like this.
A. The first in the series, great, outstanding, and worthy of a sequeal. People loved it as it opened new possiblites and other parts to an open story
Take these examples
1. Spider-man trilogy- 1st was a great movie and one of the best action movies made
2. Lord of the Rings book 1- Great followup to the hobbit and very acclaimed.
3. Halo 1- Was revolutionary as a new shooter, it offered a peramant shield, the pistol kicked ass unlike most other shooter games, multiplayer was great. Could only hold 2 weapons at a time.
4. Metroid Prime 1- Was revolutionary in terms of combining old game formulas with new ones and totally redefined FPS games by doing more then common crazy shooting.
B. The second part of a triology. The producers try to make it better by adding on the classic setting that made the first one a hit.
1. Spider-man 2- Was not as good as the first but tried to stay closer to the comic orgins.
2. Lord of the rings book 2- was a continuation to tell the stories of the fellowship as they became seperated.
3. Halo 2- kept the shield and weapons system but the story left people somthing desired, the story was not as appealing as the first but it luckly had the books to show the story more. Multiplayer was what did the game better though with the new settings and dual wealding interchangeable weapons system.
4. Metroid Prime 2- Kept the same gameplay but added the dark world (a classic nintendo habit at that). It was a very good game adding more straigy with the new light-dark ammo system. It was loved and hated as people were unsure of ammo but still liked how the light beam acted as the plasma beam and how the dark beam acted as the ice beam. Multiplayer was ok but it was a good experiment in the second part of this triology to make a great spin off story. With only some powers lost and the addition of the dark world it gave people a longer campign with was very nice but it could get confusing with the deminsonal puzzles.
C. Now we get to the closing part of a triolgy, the last part of the main storyline. In this part the producers try to make an epic claimax to end all the conflicts of the 3 part story and this is what makes or breaks the storyline. Somtimes endings are outragous other times they make some sense.
1. Spider-man 3- It was weird because it was his dark side and he ended up making venom, not to mention venom had hardly any time in the movie and sandman was also out of place, the movie was fine but it did not stick to the comic orgins like it should have.
2. Lord of the rings 3- It actully had a good ending, frodo almost became corrupted by the ring but he threw it away just in time and the war ended, everyone left to be with someone else to aid them for the future.
3. Now we are on Halo 3, if that was the ending it better have a good climax, none of this only by destorying this will the whole flood or rings be destroyed no. I mean you would think the Humans and covenant would help each other bluid a better world after the war. This is what we need to wait on.
4. Metroid Prime 3- Great ending to the series because it had no plot holes for anything to be desired. It had both an interal and external conflict as samus fought both the courrption in her and the space pirates ambitions to take over the galxay. Next with the AU mentioned at the beginning of the game and how the pirates stole it, it made sense on how all the phazon got destroyed at the end. They stole 1 AU to send a virus to the whole GF network and cripple them, like how a real PC could get a virus to other ones. DS can revive itself from 1 strand of Phazon after being hurt very badly, however after it merges with AU 313 at the end and dies, the AU was linked to the Phazon planets core, the AU was controlling the planet, it caused the planet to expolde. The AU gave DS the power to control all phazon everywhere but as a result of being destroyed, DS got killed for good and all the phazon in the universe was gone. Then with the surpise ending a new triology metroid FPS triolgy can begin.
I think people are expecting too much from the H3 ending. I mean lets face the facts. Halo has never bene a really huge heavy headed storyline game. So really trying to give it one in the last one would pretty much just be odd. A lame anticlimatic series fits a very basic storyline.
Bungie even said they botched halo 2 for it did not have all the multiplayer ideas they wanted and the story was not as appealing. People are going to be pissed no matter what the ending turns out to be like, “WTF? the humans and covantant don’t make an allaince to help each other rebluid after the war?" Or “OMG Master Cheif died?!"
Tizz saidly the curse of the third part of a triology, people expect to much and become too compelled to see what they were hoping for until they finally see it. Poor Halo 3 story writers, they must have been under some pressure as they will hear complants no matter how good the ending is, you can only image them hoping that all their hard work will make a great ending for a highly anticpated game.
I am glad retro managed to pull off a great ending to the prime triology, it fit purfectly into the story and the destruction of the phazon everywhere in the universe made sense.

Whatev, i think the ending on my TV screen will be good enough. But after the ending, i’ll sit for a few minu7tes in silence, then i’ll go mess around with Forge.
