COD4 and WaW had great multiplayer but many offset issues.
COD4 was great as the first in the COD franchise to include our own custom classes for battle for weapons, gear, and skills.
It was great and had a nice set of weapons, each fit nicely and allowed a whole range of possiblities. However there were a few gameplay offsets that really sucked and annoyed everyone.
The major gameplay issues were:
Insane grenade throwing distance- very annoying to be hit from a random grenade from the sky all the way across a map.
Spawning was not always great- I hated spawning in firefights and in the sight of an enemy.
Killstreaks onslaught- it was terrible when one team just got to the point and just let the airstrikes and gunship do their duty not even granting the other team a moment of rest.
WaW fixed a few of those problems with so gameplay refinements of its own.
The grenade throwing issue was greatly resolved, they had been nurfed in throwing power and since even more grenade types were around, the standard frags were a little less effective. Plus the replacement of frag 3X to primary 2X reduced grenade spamming incredibly and I have hardly seen a problem with a random grenade from the sky at far ranges.
The spawning was improved- not as bad as COD4 but still moderately annoying, there were times when I would usually spawn in a clear area with no foes and other times when I would spawn in the same spot 3 times in a row and get killed for it because some other guy just happened to be hanging around there.
The kill streaks onslaught was reduced- With artillary replacing an air-strike and it lasting longer, a common issue of people calling one in right after the other was not as bad, people could quickly just use airstrikes instantly while the artillary was avoidable and had delays. The dogs were killable and you could actually avoid them, mainly by climbing up a ladder. Hopefully the gunship killstreaks will be only moderately strong.
However WaW did have one really annoying offset and that would be the MP40. It was like the M60 from COD4, a 2 shot kill even without stopping power, however the M60 was balanced because due to its power, it had heavy recoil and a long reload. The MP40 was easier to use and had improvements in everything the M60 did expect power. It was a common SMG in the game and no SMG should kill that fast. The AK-74u in COD4 was the strongest SMG and was a 2 hit kill with stopping power but other attachments like the RDS and silencer reduced the hip-accuracy of the AK-74u giving it a sense of weakness compared to the others.
MW2 comes out in nearly 3 weeks and hopefully IW will have taken both its own refinements from COD4 and Treyarch’s WaW. If they have come to combine both of the improvements and make no standard accurate SMG a 2 hit kill by default then I would be ready to argee that for once, a COD game is perfectly balanced like Halo 3.

And that says alot because all they had to do was copy what IW did and put it in WaW, and they some how fucked that up too...

Dude martrydom is gone now, we get the deathstreaks to replace it and the vehicle perks WaW gave us, plus IW did take some from WaW, different equipment other then a grenade, expect IW expanded it to more then just throwing/killing weapons. We have the tactical insurgion flare or the blast shield, etc. They fixed the insane grenade throwing from COD4 so IW would keep that, spawning should have improved even more off of WaW, plus WaW gave us an actual reason to do presitgie mode, getting extra class slots was not a bad trade off for losing all your gear like in COD4 where you only got a stupid little symbol saying “I want to do it all again."
I only saw treyarchs real only problem with what they did with the MP40, no easy to use SMG should ever kill in 2 shots by default.
Those guys who have sunk endless hours into COD4 to get to the highest rank possible are in for a damn deadly surpise if they have never even played WaW with the refinements it gave, their grenade whoring, kill-streak oppressions are over, along with anyone who would try to hide indefinity, the heartbeat sensor will reveal them even if they use the cold-blooded perk so making the first kill-streak, the UAV ineffective is a thing of the past, they can avoid or jam your UAV rader but not the heartbeat sensor.
I actually like WAW better, more varied then the ridiculously repetitive cod 4 MP. I played WAW match making with 4 of my friends right next to me, lanning in team tact and damn was it fun.

Cod6 is a user friendly game for everyone, including noobs.
Which is unfortunate because noobs are going to be able to take my class and respawn behind me after I put them on a death streak.
Can’t say too much about COD6 yet, wait till it comes out and then judge it.

Well think about it, people were sick and tried of marterydom because it was made for those who had a hard time or just plain sucked. IW had to include something so both people having a hard time and worse players could gain an edge with something, So I with the deathstreaks it seems IW is finally appealing to those who could have a hard time in game and overall. If the spawning should be troublesome then some like me would put pain killer on so I could just ransack anyone trying to spawn camp me. That was made a a supplement to the terrible spawning in COD4,
Plus copycat cannot be cheap, if some people are already disadvantaged from levels apart, not having access to a totally different weapon, attachment, or perk. This gives some people a chance to see what they may be able to use up ahead and hold their own in a match of people at higher levels.
I never personally used it because I thought of it as a useless perk and handicapping myself, I would rather have a perk always in effect like steady aim or deep impact. Second chance was better then last stand, being the same and now being able to revive one another but this time, I really hope that no easy to use SMG kills like the MP40, so redundant and bland, I know people complained about the M16 in COD4, but that was survivable, the burst could cleave you and leave you wounded, lose power through walls, and it was not always good against multiple people, even with steady aim and stopping power it was not a given instant kill at close range, it had its weaknesses, the MP40 had much more offsets that annoyed people, I personally used the BAR, DP-28, Thompson or Pssh-41 in WaW mainly because I saw the MP40 as too easy and took the challenge of matchmaking away.
