The game released just yesterday but was actually shipped overnight where I live. Okay on to business.
The Conduit as I am sure most of you know is a near-future FPS set in a ruined out washington D.C. (Aside from a more recent game with a ruined Washington D.C., why are games taking place here recently?).
The story revolves around a government cover-up beginning with a series of unexplaned events such as unnatural weather patterns over the U.S. was only the start. A few weeks later, U.S. government officals were being infected with an unkown virus called “The Bug." Over the next few weeks people were dissapearing and a terrorist attack on the washington monument was call for alarm and increased tension, next the water supply in the D.C. area became contaminated and people were worrying more, on Sept 11th, the new persidental canidate was killed. A few days later, homeland security ordered an evac on washington, terroists tried to assassinate the president but fail as a new agent called Micheal Ford (main character), saves Mr. President (Not Obama in this game). The alien drugde invasion begins soon after. Ford is recruited by a shadow operative called Mr. Adams, the head of the secret organization called “Trust," a secret organization that has existed and protected America for over 200 years, (Like I said deals with government cover-ups and in this story this is the so called group)
Ford is recurited to help Adams track down a terroist known as Promethius who has stolen a prototype divice called the ASE or All-seeing-eye.
It is not much new to what other shooters have but it is there as a way to unlock secret areas, find cloaked and intangable foes, disarm traps, and slove puzzles. It is just there as a way so the game is not just a redundent run and gun type game like Call of Duty or Halo. It does have puzzles like other shooters such as Half-life and Metroid Prime just not to the point were they make an incredible difference.
Now the story may seem pretty standard and sterotypical and I have yet to see more of the story but it does do a good mystery/suspence theme as to why the drugde came and what the trust organization is really planning, and who promethius really is, but what the game really excels in is customization, you can basiclly tinker with the control set-up in any way and find the controls you want. It does work nicely, the defaults are weird so I tinkered with it and got a nice set-up since you would not be normally used to playing a FPS on the wii (Unless you played MP3), but the game gives you full control, you can adjust the controls, bounding box/dead zone, sensitivty, running speed(for campaign only so you cannot be a speed demon in multiplayer) even the HUD. I found a nice set-up as I began and it works out well for me.
The controls are fairly standard for a shooter, walk, strafe, jump, crouch, zoom, melee, etc. But since it is on the wii, you get 2 rather helpful actions, again you can use a 180 turn since the remote will not always be the quickest by default, and you get a lock-on. Now the lock on is by no means direct or instant, you still need to aim there and when locked on you can only focus on them, the screen will not let you look anywhere else while locked on. I found this useful for a 1 on 1 fight or when meleeing since you could be inaccurate by just pushing the remote foward. Another use was for throwing grenades which is well surpisingly accurate, by placing the crosshair nearby or locking on you can get a clear shot.
As for weapons, most are standard, you get the standard pistol (like the ones from half-life 2) SMG, 3-round burst all purpose rifle, shotgun, rocket launcher. However like Halo had some unique weapons (Like the needler which is the most standalone weapon I have seen in the game), The conduit has its own. Some weapons like the Druge Strike Rifle, may seem the same a-la the covenent carbine but it functions much differently, this weapon is both a semi-auto weapon and full blown sniper-rifle, it just needs to charge. Others like the Trust Carbinizor mk14 or whatever is it called, work as a semi-auto weapon but when charged, can unleash a deadly 3 way burst, useful for close assaults.
Multiplayer, I have yet to try as I could not find a match but it does allow some stuff like avatar customization, and an exp-ranking system.
From what I have heard though it should work well.
I would have to give it an 8.5 or so because it is no revolutionary game or shooter like Metroid Prime or Halo 3 in terms of multiplayer but it is very fun even if it is on the wii.
It is a basic shooter but it does have a nice story and the controls work, you just need to find the right one that fits.
As for online, I only had trouble because my internet was not fully running so I have yet to see but it does use a ranking system by each kill you get so similar to halo but you earn xp from every match from every kill or objective.
I played a match online and it works very well, I myself experienced no lag on my end but there was one person I was playing against that had some lag: i.e. his character kept jumping around the screen. But, as soon as he left the match there weren’t any other ppl that were lagging and I got enough xp to gain a level in the ranking system. The game overall is well worth the wait and plays fantastically, once you get the controls set to your liking. The aiming precision is umparalleled as far as I’m concerned, but it really doesn’t bring any new concepts to the genre other than the ASE. Inferno what is your FC for your Wii? PM me with it and I will add you to my console and then send you a Conduit invite... See you on the other end of my gun
i give the game a nine and i give the multiplayer a 9.5, the multiplayer is very fun and engaging, including the use of Wii speak and the ability to change the coloration of you charecter. Overall this is a great game, especially if you only have a Wii, if you have anything else, its an average game.
Upon playing it, I’d say reviews, such as this one, are about spot on. Single player is kinda dull, lackluster, and mediocre... similar to most shooters. But it is still fun for a playthrough.
Graphically, it looks great for a Wii game. Some of the best and there is a lot going on on the screen. Controls, however, are simply incredible. AT most times they are so sensitive, that I can actualy see the slight movements in my hands on the screen. Most people can’t hold something up in the air for too long completely still and that is represented accurately on screen with high sensitivity. I had to turn it down haha to more akin to MOHH2 controls.
Multiplayer, is extremely fun and up there with CoD : WaW on the Wii. So pretty much a good shooter for the Wii.

Okay I just got to play a full match and I have to say, it is a very nice multiplayer experience, like the first time you played Halo or Goldeneye, this one had that great feeling of just running and gunning, working with your team, etc.
Multiplayer is nice as it has these:
Ranking like COD4/WaW- you gain exp for each kill, match, etc. What is really cool is that like COD’s kill-streaks, you get an exp bonus for a killing spree, 3 then 5 and so on kills earns you 150% then 200% more exp.
Matches are determined by this,
random people of rank again.
Everyone votes for a stage, mode in the selected playlist, and weapons set.
There are only 9 stages but it does seem well enough.
the main overall modes are free-for-all, team deathmatch, and team objective.
Free-for-all and team deathmatch tend to have the same kinds of rules, basic reach the kill limit, marathon which is no score limit instead just hold the most kills when time is up, three strikes which is a 3 life survial game, and survial in which you get 10 lives.
Team games of 3 strikes are each teammate gets 3 lives while in team stock, both teams get a limited number of lives and whichever one goes to 0 first looses.
Weapon sets are determined by race and/or functions. Each set usually contains about 4-6 weapons on the maps.
Here are some examples:
Human set gives you- USP45 pistol, MP5, SCAR assault Rifle, SMAW rocket launcher, SPAS-12 shotgun, and Frag Grenades
Yeah it did remind me of goldeneye and perfect dark.
The weapons work out nicely, the human ones are what you would expect, the trust work well, the Mk-14 deatomizer is a nice semi auto rifle, the mk 9 carbonizer is a good leach/incineration weapon, the TCP is your standard grenade launcher.
The 4 drudge guns work out nicely as well, the Warp Pistol is a weak gun but gets pretty strong when you charge it. The Strike rifle may seem like the carbine from halo but it is rather weak when it is normally fired. It has a weak 3 orb shot when fired normally but has a better chance of hitting, when charged, it is a full blown sniper rifle and it uses 1/6 of its ammo to do this powerful shot, it takes out about half of your life for a body shot this way and all of it for a headshot. I have yet to try the shirker in multiplayer along with the hive cannon.
But the game is fun, I just jumped right in and found myself massauring the whole opposing team and getting bonus exp for killing sprees.
