Story:
Okay, let’s start off with the Story. Metroid Prime 3 has the best story line out of all 3 of the Prime games. The story is as follows…
It’s six months after Samus has defeated the Ing and peace once more is upon Aether. However, it seems that the Space Pirates are still at war with the Galactic Federation. Samus is calmly resting in her new, custom made, Hunter-Class Gunship when she gets a message that tells her to board the G.F.S Olympus. After speaking to some of the crew, Samus meets with Fleet Admiral Dane and the three news bounty hunters, Ghor, Rundas (and my favorite) Gandrayda. Admiral Dane tells Samus that the Space Pirates have attacked the G.F.S Valhalla and that they have sent a corruption virus to all the main Aurora Units. He tells her that if they attack, they will have little, if no, defensive options. After that, the Space Pirates come out of a wormhole and attack the G.F.S fleet. Admiral Dane tells Samus to get to her ship. After going through a few obstacles, she finally finds her ship and lands on Norion. After she lands, a G.F. Trooper tells you that they need to get the generators back online and activate cannon to destroy a giant meteor. She soon turns them back on and is on her way to activate the cannon. However, when she arrives with the three hunters, they encounter Dark Samus. Dark Samus then uses a large blue like beam and knocks them all out. Thankfully, Samus wakes up and turns on the cannon which destroys the meteor, only to fall down and passes out. She wakes up one month later and finds that she has been corrupted. She is given a Phazon Enhancement Device (or PED) so that she can enter “Hyper Mode” and take out Phazon based creatures. Samus is then informed that the “meteor” that was heading towards Norion was actually a Space Pirate device called a “Leviathan”. It corrupts the planets it crashes into and turns them into pure Phazon. She must go to each planet in the Federation Controlled galaxy and destroy the Leviathan seed. The other three hunters were also given a PED suit and where sent to take out the Leviathan seeds. They weren’t heard from ever since they left. As you journey through the massive worlds, you start to become more and more corrupted every time you defeat a Seed Boss. Also, if you use the PED suit for an extended amount of time, you will be corrupted. So, although the PED suit is extremely powerful, it kills you. You will need the PED suit so that you can take out the very powerful Space Pirates and destroy the seeds. I would tell you more about the story, but I don’t want to ruin it for you. I will say that they should have done a better job at tying things in. They should have explained more. However, it’s not that big of a deal.
Planets/ Star Ships:
The first place you start is the G.F.S Olympus and you have to go and meet the Admiral. I really liked this place. It was high-tech and you were able to talk to anyone you wanted which is really cool. Also, if you shoot the people, a gun will pop out and will attack you if you don’t stop. The second place you stop is the planet Norion. Norion looks a lot like G.F.S Olympus, but has beautiful mountains in the back ground. You have several landing sites and it makes it a lot easier to get around. The next place you go is Planet Bryyo. Bryyo was once a planet of peace, but after the race turned against each other, the place is now ruins. You find out that the Lords of Science (one of the two tribes) know the Chozo and may be one of the 4 races that are scientifically superior to the other races (you can find this out by scanning lore in Prime 1 and 2). The next planet you go to is Planet Elysia. In my opinion, Elysia is the best, and coolest, of all the planets. Elysia was once a Chozo home world and they have built a robot race to guard the planet. Elysia is a cloud world and it has many little cities that float above the clouds. The largest one, and the one you are on most of the time, is Skytown. The reason I love this place so much is because you can use the rails to go from one little hovering building to the next. You also can you the Morph Ball Cannon which will shot you to the next platform. The next place you go to is G.F.S Valhalla. You can’t do anything there now, but it’s one of the most important places later (which you will find out as you get farther in the game). The next place is the Space Pirate Home world. I’ve been waiting to go to the Space Pirate home world ever since I played Metroid Prime 1. You get to go through their dark, dangerous halls and you can see that the place has been corrupted for a while. There are most planets, but that’s all I’m going to tell you.
Gear:
Metroid Prime 3 has some of the same upgrades as from the previous Metroid games, but has added a LOT more. The first upgrade you get is the missile. The missiles look a lot more realistic and have smoke when it comes out of your Arm Cannon. The next upgrade you get is Grapple Lasso. In Metroid Prime 3, you get 3 Grapple upgrades which lets you use the Grapple a lot more instead of it being replaced once you get the Screw Attack (which is what happened in Metroid Prime 2). After you defeat some Space Pirates on a bridge, you get the Command Visor which lets you control you land your ships in different locations instead of the other Metroid games where you ship stayed in one spot. The next upgrade is the PED Suit. The PED (or Phazon Enhancement Device) allows you to go into Hyper Mode which is one of the most useful weapons in the game. After that is the Grapple Swing. This is the normal Grapple Beam from the other Metroid games. Then you get the Ice Missiles after you beat Rundas. The Ice Missiles are stronger than normal missiles and have a freezing effect like the Ice Beam. After that you get Ship Missiles. This will allow you to call down bombing strikes which will kill the enemies in that area (note: you can only do this in an open area or you will not be able to do anything). Once you get the Ship Missiles you get the Hyper Ball. The Hyper Ball is used when you go into Hyper Mode. Once in Hyper Mode, you press and hold A to unleash a powerful current of Phazon that will destroy multiple targets. The next thing is the Boost Ball. The Boost Ball allows you to take out some targets and activate some devices. I’m going to stop here so I don’t ruin it for you. I will say that coolest upgrade is the Grapple Lasso. It’s so cool to use on enemies and you use it a lot.
Controls:
“THE BEST CONSOLE CONTROLS OF ALL TIME” should sum it up for you. Not only does the aiming work perfectly, so does everything else. The game almost always responds to your movement (sometimes it takes a second try). When you’re in Morph Ball, you can do a Morph Ball Jump by flicking the Wii-Mote up. It’s a lot easier than dropping a Morph Ball Bomb each time. I think the best example of how easy it is to use the Grapple Lasso. When you fight an enemy with a shield, all you have to do is flick the Nunchuck forward, then you pull it back to yank off the shield. You can even toy around with it by slowly pulling back and pulling it to the left or right. It just proves that Metroid Prime 3 has most responsive controls for the Wii. For example, on Red Steel, when you wanted to use a slice attack, all you would have to do is swing the Nunchuck when the sword icon appeared over the white dot. When you tried it a lot of the time though, it didn’t work. Or on Call of Duty 3, when you tried to do a melee attack; it was much easier to push down on the D-Pad instead throwing the Wii-Mote towards the screen. Unlike all those games, Metroid Prime 3 actually works.
Difficulty:
Metroid Prime 3 starts you out with 2 types of difficulty. You can choose ether Normal (which is like easy) or Veteran (which is for those more experienced Wii players). One more thing I had a problem with on Metroid Prime 3 was that it was too easy. In fact, I beat it on Veteran mode with 86% in 14 hours and 9 minutes. I had a harder time on Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess than Metroid Prime 3 (which was a disappointment). However, if you can beat Veteran, you can unlock Hyper Mode which is a little bit harder. Also, the Space Pirates are a LOT harder in Prime 3 than in the other 2 Prime games (which I am very pleased about). Right now, I’m playing it on Hyper Mode and I’m trying to get 100%. If you thought Metroid Prime 3 is the hardest of all 3 Prime games, you will be disappointed. It seems that Metroid Prime 2 still stands at the hardest Prime game.
After all that I’ve said, I am not the bit unhappy about Metroid Prime 3. I think it totally lived up to the hype. It could use a little touch up but I think it’s defiantly the best Wii game so far. This is a must buy, no brainer, got to get right now game.
I rate Metroid Prime 3 a 9.8 out of 10. Retro Studios started the Prime series out with a bang, and they ended with another.
Ups: Best Wii game so far, Best Wii controls so far, Best story for the Prime games, best graphics for the Wii so far.
Downs: Not enough explanation, really easy. __________________

In fact, they were responding to the time when some people found a way to get out of Valhalla in the Halo 3 beta. __________________
