Namco Bandai Blames Nintendo for Atcade Closure in Japan

Over 60 arcades are getting shut in Japan. They say that “most of the games you play at arcades can now be played at home with the Wii”

Well arcades have been dying out since those games first started to get ported to the NES back then, when Donkey Kong first came out people were hooked then it was ported to the NES and people could play it at home anytime. Besides The arcades in my town are starting to become deserted because people love the wii.

I think its mostly because of the fact that people can now move the Wii mote and use it like a gun in House of the Dae (1 and 2). That was one of the major attractions of arcades, also moving a wheel to move the car, now able to be done on the Wii.

But I like arcade games... since its cheap and I dont like press knop on game stick after that I go to PC games and RTS only...

Who develops for arcade games anymore when you have the PSN, XBL Arcade store, Wii’s VC... no need for arcades and you can interact with people online so you don’t have to endure the foul stench of overweight losers playing you in a game you could play for free at home.
