Alright and our final report from our trifecta. Once again like NIntendo’s, I’ve yet to get a well setup format to post the financial side so I’ll simply provide shipments.
Let’s start with PS3. Sony has stated that they shipped .71 million PS3’s this last quarter. That brings their total to 4.28 million PS3’s shipped as of the end of June 2007 worldwide. now you have to be thinking, Sony stated that they had 5.5 million shipped at the end of March 2007.
Well we were fooled. Actually that 5.5 million represented how many had been produced. the other number in there, 3.57 million, was how many were shipped. So at the end of March 2007 3.57 million PS3’s had been shipped and as of the end of June 2007 4.28 million PS3’s have been shipped. That should clear up any misconeptions and misunderstandings. Sony still plans to have 11 million PS3’s by the end of fiscal year 2008, end of March 2008. Meaning if they achieve this goal they will have 14.57 million PS3’s by the end of March 2008. But it’s hard to think they’ll hit this goal with such low shipment numbers for this quarter.
Now to the PS2. Sony shipped 2.7 million PS2’s last quarter. That puts the total number of PS2’s shipped worldwide as of the end of June 2007 to 120.59 million units shipped worldwide. Congradulations PS2 you are now the world’s most shipped gaming hardware ever by just passing the leader, GB. CONGRATS. Sony also plans to ship 10 million PS2’s in this fiscal year. That means they plan on shipping 7.3 million more PS2’s by the end March 2008. That would equal up to 127.89 million PS2’s shipped by the end of March 2008. Nonetheless amazing
Finally the PSP. Sony shipped 2.14 million PSP’s last quarter. That puts it at 27.53 million PSP’s shipped as of the end of June 2007. Sony plans on shipping 9 million PSP’s by the end of March 2008. That means they plan on shipping 6.86 more PSP’s til then. That would put them at 34.39 million PSP’s shipped by the end of March 2008.
More details available through the link.
This puts our console wars and handheld wars at this as of the end of June 2007:
360- 11.6 million
Wii- 9.27 million
PS3- 4.28 million

So, Sony lied about the shipments again?
They didn’t lie technically because they included all the produced ones in their finance reports and they included which ones were actually shipped. But it was quite deceiving so this time they didn’t include ones produced and only ones shipped.
Well it was misleading to say the least. Anyway since there doesn’t seem to be much going on I guess I’ll take my leave. I have other things to do *looks around suspiciously*

Wait Sony is this good for Sony or no
Um well as an entire company this quarter they made a $540 million profit. That’s good. But the gaming division lost $300 million some odd. That’s not good. PS3 only have 710,000 shipped this quarter and a total of only 4.28 million isn’t good.

But PS2 and PSP are fine right now.
Well thats a relief, as long as my PSP keeps growing, I dont need to worry about my Wii its doin fine

If only there was one console. No wars, no PS3 vs Wii crap, just One console with ALL games and cost a low price of 300 bucks. If only...
It would suck, there would be no competition and as a result no reason to improve.

The PS2 is a monster still, I’m still amazed that it sold that much.
That it is but it’s yearly shipments continue to go down but at the slow pace as I’ve told people of when relating to if Wii was to start declining. PS2 has gone from shipping 22 million to 20 million to 17 million to 16 million to 14 million to the now projected 10 million in it’s yealry shipment numbers. When you are so high on top it takes awhile to come down.
