How do I unlock better weapons?

I beat Arcade mode and story mode with Vader and unlocked a few weapons but none of the weapons I unlocked or can buy for Vader have very high stats for specials like drain, etc.

I want to be able to be bale to use drain or heal. What else can I do to unlock better weapons for Vader?

I don’t want to pay for a strategy guide. I’m saving up for MGS4 and the new dlc that’s coming out for Pain, Warhawk, and a few other games.
