Should Xbox live Gold membership be free, or should everything in marketplace be free?

I got Guitar Hero 2 when it came out for the 360, and i went to marketplace and did some math and it will cost you around $100 to get Guitar Hero 1 songs.

so my question: should xbox live gold membership be free, or should everything in marketplace be free?

XBL should be free, but buying things off the marketplace should cost, MS already earn more then enough money from the marketplace to not worry about XBl being free

1. Gold is free and everything costs money.

OR

2. Gold costs money and most downloads for games are free, including some arcade games such as MK.

But, i have heard that microsoft is planning on it to compete with sonys online service. This is what i have heard, not confirmed yet. Otherwise, the whole WWW would be talking about it. Also a major increase in XBL members.

If MS doesn’t make Live free, then they need to at least lower the prices... like 10 - 20 dollars a year would be so much better... not like 50$ is a lot though... lower prices would still be nice...
