The Sims was epic, and I’ve never had a good playthrough of The Sims 2.
The Sims 3 didn’t look that great to me.

Maybe I should just download the torrent...

The Sims 2 lags hell more than The Sims 3. The Sims 3 has more features than The Sims 1 and 2 (without expansion packs, of course), and players have more freedom in this game, but graphics-wise it looks like shit (not completely) in low video settings and resolution. The Sims 1 is a simpler game, but too many limitations: Children don’t grow up for some reason or it takes them hell long to do so, there are only 2 floors for a building, ALL of the Sims in this game are claustrophobic — they would disagree at going through narrow but passable spaces — and you’re limited to only one neighborhood.
In short, not one of the three is perfect. They all have flaws. I’m playing TS3 though (at high settings :P)

The Sims 3 does admittedly look very good, but it just doesn’t seem true to the original idea of The Sims. It’s likely that I will just have to adjust to the new system.
But for me, the second of every VG series is always (well, mostly) the best:
Tomb Raider 2
Metal Gear Solid 2
Silent Hill 2
etc.
So I imagine that I will love The Sims 2, and it shouldn’t lag at all considering that my piece of shit laptop passes the Recommended Requirements with flying colours.

Which is? Well for me it doesn’t stray off from the concept of The Sims, whatever that “original idea” is. Which means it’s better than the previous 2 games.
Offtopic: Your avatar reminds me of someone from another forum. Do you happen to know EarthwormJim?

By 'original idea' I mean the focus on specific families and housing rather than the neihgbourhood as a whole.
As for the avatar, it’s Skwisgaar Skwigelf from the T.V. show Metalocalypse. But I don’t know EarthworJim (But I know Earthworm Jim).

The Sims 3 is still about life, family and houses. Neighborhood is just an addition, since MANY wanted to have the players walking around the neighborhood more freely and remove the need to load when they do. Also, fans wanted it more realistic, like needing to bring a pregnant Sim to the nearest hospital to conceive, or be able to see the very workplaces of your Sims, or go to those workplaces to get the job you want your Sim to have instead of having your Sim to browse through the internet or the newspaper, hoping that the job you want is there by chance, etc. — adding a free-roam-able neighborhood was the trick to all of this.
Also, it is up to the player actually if he/she wants to focus more on the families and/or housings, or the neighborhood as a whole. This is the reason why I said players have more freedom in this game. And if by chance you like to cheat in the TS games, you’ll definitely LOVE the TS3’s testing cheats system (not saying I like to cheat myself).
And if you’re also talking about Story Progression, where your neighbor Sim families aren’t paused and can do stuff by their own like promote, fall in love, have kids, get married, etc., you can disable that feature.

I know, just that I’m asking if you know him by chance. Too bad I can’t watch that show anymore. Adult Swim was removed from Cartoon Channel or any of our channels here in the Philippines for some reason.

At any rate, I hope there is a sort of 'Story Mode' for TS3.
[Adult Swim] was removed from Cartoon Network for whatever reasons, but I have both seasons of Metalocalypse anyway.
And no, I don’t know that guy.

Story Mode? I’m not sure if there is one, but ignoring the reduced loading times, the free-roam-able neighborhood, the new genes/traits system, and the graphics, TS3 is pretty much the same as TS2. Each family has its own description (plus “Difficulty Level” which tells how hard it is to control the family), their own lifetime wishes to fulfill (plus the improved “wishes system” which I like from this game), etc.
There is also the Story Progression Mode where your uncontrolled Sim families aren’t paused when you’re controlling one family and they do stuff by their own as though you’re controlling them like promote, pay bills, make friends, fall in love, get married, have kids, etc.
If you really are aiming for a “Story Mode”, you’d better turn Story Progression off otherwise your Sims, when controlling another family, will do stuff by their own. Sometimes one of them would run away and never be seen again, or die, or fall in love with a Sim or have an affair with another Sim when you don’t want him/her to, name her child by her own when she’s pregnant, break up with his/her loved one, or worse leave town if they’re unfortunate enough (but that’s a rare occurrence).
Also, has any of you here tried having your female Sim have sex with the Grim Reaper and then give birth in any of the TS games? LOL because it’s NEVER impossible...

(the “Half-Reaper” baby Sim in this picture is already a grown-up, and has a wife and 2 kids)

Sims 3 doesn’t lag as much as Sims 2. plus you don’t have that annoying load screen every time you want to leave the neighborhood.
there is some DLC already made for the Sims 3 online.

Well, whenever I played The Sims 2 it never lagged. It only ever lagged on an old Toshiba Laptop that was made likey when the original Sims was released. It shouldn’t be a problem on mine
Can you RUN it? is a website that analyses your computer specs and tells you whether or not you pass the minimum or reccommended settings for a particular game. I passed the reccommended easily.

Serious? Awesome, even more lulz. It better be as awesome as the first two. I LMAO’d so much on Dethsources when Nathan and Toki were texting each other.

I managed to get The Sims 2 on my PC and it runs perfectly. I have yet to see any sufficient lag. There is one major problem though...I can’t use any of the build tools for some reason. Anybody know how to fix this?
