While that is true, Sonic Unleashed was criticized for its werehog gimmickry. People have praised its fast-paced part, however. Sega was almost on the right track.
The storybook series is simply terrible, in my opinion. I really did not think Sega would go far as making Sonic use a sword after making Shadow use a gun.

Imagine having an entire game consisting of the said levels. That is what I would call a successful Sonic 3D translation.
with eggmans credibility destroyed from past experiences with the military eggman is now working through a new villian and has convinced the leaders of the country that sonic is a threat. so the military is after sonic. the game takes place in a city much like new york. the game strongly supports free roaming, extreme speed and many side missions that when completed earn you credits you can exchange for new abilities. as for graphics think sonic adventure 2. ok so big deal the military is after sonic, he can just haul ass away from them. well after doing that for a good while sonic recieves a phone call from guess who, eggman himself, and he has kidnapped tails and wants sonic to turn himself in or he will kill tails. so now sonic must team up with shadow and stop eggman while avoiding the military before its to late.. new abilities sonic now has include running up on the walls of buildings, running on water, sliding under cars, going in slowmo to go around tight turns, of course the drifting would be brought back in. but the most important aspect of this game would be SPEED so much speed sonic will be able to break the sound barrier. along with side quests you will be able to earn achievments or challenges by doing tricks or stunts.

It is about time someone got it right. Yes, Replace kill off, or have Sonic and Shadow beat up by Silver.
See, most series have their characters become stronger or advance. Silver actually has a mission, and he was willing to destroy the whole Sonic Cast to fulfill it.
Therefore what we need is for Silver to take over since his character is what the series needs.
Have sonic learn better skill moves, change shoes for fuck sake, and I don’t mean updating his fucking shoes I mean give this guy items of shoes like where he can run on air, or surf on the water, whatever. Sonic adventure was good cause it gave sonic some add-on abilities, the levels were good but not challenging, the loops are so-so, hoping from wall to wall is not cool it’s a tired formula. Bring back some familiar faces, robosonic, robotnik, pull out some old school 2d camera fixes for nostalgia reason.
Kill off that time traveling silver hedgehog, kill shadow, kill that fat purple cat, kill that lizard and his other freaks.

I hate Sonic the Hedgehog.
He already got enough powerups in Sonic Adventure 2.
Sonic Heroes and Shadow the hedgehog actually got it right. But Sonic h 06 failed with powerups.
The SMART choice? Kill off Sonic, Shadow, Knuckles, Half of Eggmans Robot, etc.
Develop the charcter with a actual continuing plot. Silver fits the bill.
Blaze should return.
Amy could.
Eggman needs a re-do.
The Chao can suck it. Perhaps in the next game Silver can chuck the Chaos into space. epic win.
Characters with a misison and the resolve to kill unfocused blue hedgehogs, pink lovesick hedgehogs, and black no-character , 100% emo characters are win.
Silver has often been compared to DBZ. I will draw the parallel.
Trunks arrives and fights Goku as SS to test his power. Yet when Silver arrives, he murders Sonic and Shadow. Talk about advancing in powers! Not even Shadow could take him.

But Shadow is the savior of the world! He rid us of that retarded blue furball sonic in Shadow the Hedgehog (Which was really really fun)
