ps3 is almost a completly separete part of sony, its sony computer entertainment responsible for the playstation and they dont always do a good job. sony itself is a very trust worthy company, they made the first tape player that you could take in you pocket, they even make headphones which are way better than apple ipods head fones! sony even make bloody good cellphones which even have a low price! sony is a trust worthy company, sony computer entertainment and ken kutragi are the real ones to complain to when saying they lie

Well to start off, even though PS3 is only in the entertainment part of Sony, it’s success is crucial to the company. The PS3 will lose money for at least a few years. How much and for how long is the key, and projections from Merrill Lynch Japan suggest that the PS3 could lose a tremendous amount of money for Sony in the first few years. Merrill Lynch projected losses of 1.18 billion in year 1, 730 million in year 2 and 457 million in year 3. By comparison, Sony’s profits in the past three years has been about 1.86 billion. If the PS3 doesn’t start turning a serious profit in year 4, Sony’s bank accounts could start drying up. There’s no indication if these losses also anticipate the costs involved with setting up the massive infrastructure for an Xbox Live competitor, which most people think Sony will provide. If not, Sony’s losses could skyrocket even more as it looks to create a brand-new online presense. Additionally, Sony is stil having to compete with HD-DVD, which is getting significant backing from Microsoft (and their 37 billion in cash). Whereas Microsoft has little to lose if HD-DVD fails, Sony has everything to lose.

Anyway, about people not trusting Sony. It’s not only the PS3 that’s turning people away. When something very serious happens or even something that isn’t so serious but annoys people, they begin to lose faith and trust in that company.

Something that isn’t so serious but annoys people is Sony’s arrogance. Sony have been making some pretty arrogant statements over the past year. That alone isn’t enough for people to lose trust in Sony, but it could kickstart it.

Something that is VERY serious that caused thousands, maybe even millions of people to lose trust in Sony is the whole Rootkit scandal. When people’s computers caught virus' and stopped working altogether, people got really pissed at Sony for secretly putting Rootkit in the CD’s. On top of that Sony said, “Most people, I think, don’t even know what a rootkit is, so why should they care about it?". Who would trust Sony BMG after this?

Also, there have been a couple articles about Sony that have been an impact on their good reputation. Here are a couple:

Most of those articles (if not all) are about either PSP or PS3. They aren’t that serious but still enough to make people lose respect for Sony.

Now in addition to the Rootkit scandal, there is another serious event that happened not to long ago. The Sony Battery Recall probably also... ah crap. I have to go now before I miss the bus!!!!!!! I’ll come and explain more of this later.

acualy i didnt admit this during the argument because it would just give you something to get at me with but since its over i can say that they are loseing tons of money but they will start gaining when they get to 500,000 sells but microsofts i think ,not sure if the article is out of date or not, is still loseing money

Sony basiclly needs to stop being stupid right now and they need to make up for their blunders that have set this bad stage for them, they have made some of the worst choices ever in any gaming company and they should have even known it would have been like this with their bad choices from the beginning. Sony can still make up for their blunders, they have a few years to improve but if they continue to go this way that they have been going with for the last few months, things would be really bad for them.
