ok everyone I’ve recently been talking to the Associate Director for Propaganda Games (company who made this new Turok).

so here’s some thigns he’s said so far...

“We have several online modes, but even the standard ones aren’t standard, if you know what I mean.

Deathmatch
Team Deathmatch
Capture the Flag
Assault Capture the Flag
Co-op (3 specialized maps with up to 4 players)

are all included, but with the added bonus of various dinosaurs into the mix as well. With raptors hunting in the same playing ground as you and your human opponents, it adds an entirely new and exciting variable into the mix. For example, using the flare - which acts as an attractor for creatures - and nailing a flag carrier in the head will send the dinos in the vicinity after that guy. Nothing better than seeing a dilo tear your enemy apart, leaving you to stroll up and return your flag back home at leisure. Of course, your enemies can do the same thing to you.

We also have a brand-new online game mode called WarGames. Here’s where you play a match, but the only way to win is by completing specific map objectives, all in real-time. Holding off an massive enemy incursion while your teammates prepare to blow open a terminal and release a horde of creatures into the mix, then making a run for the next objective during the chaos is funny as ***.

BTW, we’ve included several advanced options in multiplayer as well, so you can tailor your private games however you see fit. Turn off/on friendly fire, change respawn times for players and weapons, turn on penalties for team kills, set rivalries (you can see who last killed you, and hunt them down for extra bonuses/achievements), grenades - the works. So you make Turok MP the game that you want to play.

Dismemberment - yeah, this was a pain to deal with. Ultimately, we were only able to provide it for the creatures this time around, but rest assured we’re aware of the issue and want to figure out a solution as well.

Reviews? Well, you can never get too high or too low on review scores. Just go out and make the game that you want and hopefully gamers will follow. The scores so far have ranged from a 9 to a 7, and I’m pretty sure that by the time everything shakes out we’ll be at the higher end of the spectrum on average. As long as the game is properly represented in the review (ie. no hatchet jobs), everybody’s opinion counts. Some we count a little more than others. wink

Weapons - you missed the most far-out weapon of them all, the Sticky Gun. It’s pretty unassuming when you first pick it up, but it’s the most blood-inducing, meat-fountain-creating weapon out there. Nailing an enemy with the gun, then triggering the explosion at your leisure is good times, and when you dual-wield it with a shotgun, you’re truly the Dino Master. Goes likes this:

1. Hit raptor with sticky gun.
2. Fire flare at human enemies.
3. Watch bomb-on-legs head over to the group of freaked out soldiers.
4. Pull sticky gun trigger.
5. Laugh your *** off

Good times.

Save anywhere? Where’s the danger in that? The checkpoints are spaced out enough so you have to hunt through the jungle intelligently, and we never kick you back to the beginning of the level if you die just before a boss battle, for example. If you want a challenge, quick-save and quick-load probably isn’t what you’re looking for. :P

The North American release date is February 5th, 2008. Just a couple of weeks to go!

The team at Propaganda behind Turok draws from all over the industry, veterans of gaming with AAA titles notched on our collective belts. Ubisoft, EA, Relic, Rockstar - games like Company of Heroes, NBA Street, Def Jam (the two good ones, not Icon), Splinter Cell, Dawn of War and much, much more.

In multiplayer, you can choose to be either a member of Whiskey Company (Turok’s special forces group) or Wolfpack, the legendary black ops squad led by Turok’s former mentor and wanted war criminal, Roland Kane. The Tek arrow IS in the game and available in MP too. In fact, all of the SP weapons are available as pickups in multiplayer, and as I mentioned in my previous post, you can tailor your private games to limit certain weapons. So if you want an all-explosive map, set it up with RPGs, grenades and the sticky gun as the only weapons. Some folks like all-sniper gameplay. Other folks are all about the bow, arrow, and knife. We’ve got something for everybody, and Turok gives you the freedom to set it up how you and your friends want.

Getting knocked down by dinos and seeing your legs scrabbling in front of you does a lot to immerse you into the game. Seriously - if a 500 lb slavering raptor rams into you at speed, you should get knocked on your ***, imo. There are counters, though. By tapping the A button and moving left or right, you can dive roll out of the way and avoid being knocked down, then turn the tables on whatever dinosaur was trying to kill you by lighting them up or stabbing them to death. On our highest difficulty level, Inhuman, this is the only way to get a knife kill against creatures, you have to get behind them. Normal and Hard allow for knife kills from the front, Inhuman is locked at the beginning for a reason. smiley

Turok’s co-op missions are a LOT tougher than the SP game. Seriously, why wouldn’t it be? Nothing more irritating than missions you can breeze through with only one or two players, where’s the challenge in that? You’ll need to work in tandem, all four of you, to progress, flank, work together and succeed in our co-op missions. Of that there is no doubt. Nothing ready to announce on expanded SP or MP DLC as of yet, but Propaganda will be supporting Turok heavily. 100% guaranteed and you can take that to the bank. Nothing worse than buying a game and then having the developers fall off the face of the earth, right? That won’t happen with Turok, Propaganda is fully aware of the importance of supporting our game after release.

Game length on Normal runs about 10-15 hours. No 5 hour “beat-it-between-breakfast-and-lunch” games here, full value for your money all the way.

How secure are we in Turok as a new franchise? Secure enough to get bought out by Touchstone when they saw the potential in this new game. I’m not going to talk potential sequels yet, it seems pretentious as *** to go on about trilogies when the first game isn’t even out yet, but while we’re proud of what we were able to do with Turok as an IP reset, there’s a lot more we want to do with the franchise. When you look at what Casino Royale did for James Bond, or Batman Begins for DC, there’s a great track record for beloved franchises to be reborn and made relevant for a new generation of punters. Turok will be the same. So stay tuned.“

ok here i asked him what all dinos would be in MP...

“Can’t give away the farm on dinos in MP just yet. What you’ve seen - raptors, soldierbugs (the giant scorpion looking buggers), dilos - all present and accounted for. Anything more than that, you’ll have to wait and see.“

“Sorry, no splitscreen support. Online multiplayer only."

Announcement for the Site B Video Series

I have decided to use the game, Turok, to finish my video series, Moviecodec’s Exploration of Site B. The reason for this is becuase i feel Turok will be much better than using Jurassic Park Operation Genesis. It will look better (graphically), it’ll be more deadly, and it will give a better camera angle. I will be playing in online co-op to when making the film. All i need are three people who plan to join me and make this film. Also if you wish to join me in co-op when i make the videos you’ll need to listen to my inrtuctions such as where you stand, what you do, etc.

So who wants to sign up?

Turok: Evolution sold so poorly that it lead to Acclaim’s bankrupcy in 2004. The new Turok has taken away all the retarded elements, such as robot dinosaurs wielding gattling guns and zombie soldier out for your brains, and instead did what they knew would work; remake the original.
