Alright i’ve never really been into Role-Playing-Games, but now they are looking fun. Here’s the thing, people say they’ve put 90+ hours of they’re life into the game, that just sounds fucking messed up! I don’t want to do that, but, will an RPG game effect your life or who you are? Or does it only effect you if you play it nonstop?

I play rpg’s.
the 90+ hours doesn’t come from just a few days, it’s usually over the course of.... quite a while like... months or so (at least for me anyway).
They usually take a long time, because they have very in depth story lines, which make the player able to connect with the characters and get involved with the story, much like some one would while reading a book.
As far as affecting one’s personal life.... exactly what do you mean?

Like, does it effect the way you think? Does it make you more lazy, or change who you are?

HELL NAW
I hope not, because the last thing I need is a video game made for fun turning me into somebody weird!

Well, the same could be said about a good book. That may change the way you think, and I suppose that the same thing could happen with a good rpg story. However, if you’re wondering if it affects you in any kind of negative way, perhaps just wanting to know what happens next in the story and wanting to play it a lot...?
I really doubt that an rpg would change who you are (unless it’s WOW and your life gets sucked away by it)

Ok, because i’ll only be playing it an hour a day or when I have absolutely nothing to do. I do get quite curious about what will happen next in lets say... a book. I just hope that isn’t the same as video games which probably is.

RPGs tend to be longer and take more skill than most game types, i have 80 hours on Kingdom Hearts 2, and 60 of those hours were spent on story, the rest is leveling up and going for 100%.
the other thing i like about RPGs is that they tend to also have deeper stories than other games. and usually have greater replay value than most games.
eh, id go with something from Square Enix, theirs usually are the best... although Bandai-Namco and a few other companies have really good ones too... majority of the great ones are PS1/PS2... but im sure there are good ones this gen (like ToS2 for the Wii)
Final Fantasy games are extremely fun, same with kingdom hearts... i think the Turn Base RPGs take more skill than the other types though... but thats just me...
