What passes for an adventure game these days?

Seiously, I thought an adventure game was a game that used mainly intelligence rather than reflexes.

Lucasarts has all but stopped making these sorts of games. What happened to the genre that spawned the Monkey Island and Myst series? Where have all these games gone?

Yes, ET was a game for the Atari. And I wouldn’t call it an adventure game, or even a platformer. The word 'monstrosity' comes to mind.

Seriously, can we get back on topic, because this is an issue that’s really bugging me. FPS’es, got plenty of those, RPG’s, got a crapload of those, adventures game, zilch. Nada. Nothing.
