An interesting question. Do you like playing online against people that aren’t there by you or do you still love Saturday nights with a bunch of friends duking it out. I know what my answer will be.
What's More Fun: Offline Multiplayer or Online Multiplayer?
Well online is definetly the most convenient but that was never the question. It’s what do you have more fun with.
And I have more fun with being around my best friends duking it out in a match. It’s more interactive, more social, and everything is just intensely better. I mean we all remember days of going over to friends house with a party of 4-8 or some odd duking it out in Goldeneye 007, Melee, Halo 2, Timespliters, Mario Kart, ect. There is just nothing like it. Online is a great substitute to be able to play other people mmore, but it’ll never be as fun as the real thing with people right there.
Most of my friends live too far away to come over and hang out. I usually don’t just sit around and play videogames when I hang out though. I usually go to the creek and make things go boom
for some reason i just don’t like playing against just one friend in split screen mode.
heres why.
1. smaller screen
2. they bearly know how to play it often
3. they are either way better than u or u are way too good compared to them.
4. its just you two so hardly anything goes on.
heres why i like online
1. full screen
2. lots of people skilled at your level.
3. simple and easy to get into a game without complaints on the map
4. funny comments make the game fun and feel like a real good social thing
online is just so antisocial. Too me it’s the exact opposite of what multiplayer is supposed to be about, and that’s playing with friends.
But online is still useful as you can never always have a friend over to play all the time. It’s basically a convenience thing more than anything. But nothing tops the real thing.

Lol, nice. its just every second saturday we play melee and go karting afterwards, its such a great game its amazing it was released on the day the Cube was. A fantastic game made without knowing how good it would turn out to be.
Online is great, and is a MUST for PC games, but when it comes to consoles, theres no doubt in my mind that offline play is the best.
In brawl, I’ll see what how it all works out, my friends who play Melee all have Wii’s and are getting Brawl the day they arrive here. We’ll see how it works wit the online.
Nah it’s even like this on Halo 2 haha. It has online and so did my friends but if we wanted to play each other we’d just go to each other’s houses haha. I mean it’s just more fun that way. So detached online wise.
Online is not anti-social since you are communcating with thosands of people in different parts of the world. It’s very useful and fun to play against friends from the other side of the world that, quite frankly, you may not see for a while.
However, having said that, playing multiplayer with friends is far more on a personal level and by far more engaging. And if your freinds are hardcore gamers (or even casual) why not let them bring along a couple more consoles and even T.V.s? Depending on whether you’ll stay up all night or not, or a few days, it’s pretty darn socializing and engaging I’d say.
Fighting games are the only games that really work for offline because there’s a lack of split-screen. But fighting games suck anyway so all you have after that for games that have multi are the ones that require split-screen, which is gay.
