I’m not trying to bash the PS3 or anything, I just want to know what’s the big deal about it. I want you PS3 fanboys to tell me what’s so great about it, and I don’t want any bs like, “It’s made by Sony and Ive always been a Sony fan”. And I don’t want any shallow stuff either like, “The PS3 can do this and that and has all these features”. An ass load of features doesn’t make a game console great. It’s already obvious why Wii is such a big deal, but what does the PS3 have that makes it so great? What does the PS3 have that you can’t get anywhere else? So please, everyone getting a PS3, explain to me why you think it is so great that you are willing to pay $600 for it when instead you can get an Xbox 360 and Wii for the same price.

How 'bout the fact that the PS2 outsold everyother console by millions? there has to be a major reason why so many people in the world prefer the Playstation, right? you can’t deny that the PS2 was and still is the #1 console, so why shouldn’t it’s predecessor? besides, Sony still has the most third party developers out of the bunch, which means more variety and more games, just like the PS2. Don’t get me wrong, i still love nintendo (playing for 20 years+), and the 360 does have those FPS, but the thing that makes SONY special is that it doesn’t have just one huge major franchise. nintendo has Mario, and microsoft has Halo. Yeah, u could say nintendo has zelda and metroid, but they’re still developed by nintendo themselves. the Ps2 has devil may cry by capcom, MGS by konami, shadow of the colossus by SCEA, tekken by namco, etc.. Those games, with the exception of assassin’s creed, are well established and has a good stronghold with fans and are developed by some of the most respected companies. gamers don’t associate the Playstation with a certain game, unlike nintendo and microsoft. I guess that’s wut sets the PLAYSTATION apart from everyone else.

Truegamer- The Wii has just as much 3rd party games, if not more. The difference is a fair amount of the games in both their libraries differ.

as we move on the console r gradualy becoming more than just a gaming device. luk at the old ones b4 ps1. pure games and nothing else
ps1 brought in cd player and 3d
ps2 brought in dvd player and cd player etc
this time ps3 is bringing in blu ray player and dvd etc but it doesnt stop with disc formats. u can now download songs from ur mp3, internet etc
u also have free online gaming! u also get key bord and mouse compatabilty for all those pc gamers used to the keybord. theres video chating, instant messaging.
and thts a very breif list of extra features ps3 is getting
360 does also have mp3 compatability but a decent hard drive doesnt come standard making u pay an unessecary extra amount of money.
ps3 is going to be the most widely compatable system out of the 3. its not just the graphics and blu ray player.
theres linux, and posibly windows
with things like web browsers and windows or linux it litrily replaces my big desktop with a much smaller and cheaper computer(almost)
yet people r saying EXPENSIVE?????? i mean come on are they onestly blind.
if the console only had the gaming then yes it would be expensive. but theres more!
o right. go 360

wrong, and the only reason why a fair amount of their games differ is because a large amount of nintendo’s games are nintendo. mario, donkey kong, zelda, samus, fox, and last but not least pokemon. all, i might add, are aimed for ages 16 and under.

This is very untrue, PS3 has MUCH more 3rd party support than the wii.

Zelda is aimed at adults too and look at the list of Wii games. Most of them are 3rd party.

Yet they are not officially anounced and will more than likely come out later than the ones on these 2 lists and not all at once.
Other companies have said they would make more games for Nintendo but they aren’t goign to come out as early as these ones and haven’t been announced yet.
We have to go by the same time period.

I read all of the posts so far, and I heard a lot about multi media features, and the fact that it was made by Sony. But the problem is I specifically asked why you should get a PS3 because it has something that you can’t get anywhere else. The reason I made this thread was to try to better understand why people who are getting a PS3 made that choice. Being specific, why you should get a PS3 when you can get Wii and 360 for the same price. So could we focus more on that instead of multi media features?
