Why did they choose Halo 3 to be the one to be hyped up? Was it because it was pretty much the symbol of the Xbox 360? Was it because the fans wanted it to be hyped up? Or was it just the fans themselves that hyped it up? They already knew it was going to be a best seller, so what was with all the halo 3 slurpies and Gamefuel and other stuff?
Pretty much I’m just asking why Microsoft gave it so much hype when they new it was going to sell amazingly well in the first place.

Not to mention all the Halo brand merch that Microsoft produced. I mean, slurpies, mountain dew, key chains, pins, I’m surprised I didn’t see Halo themed stationary.
Know Final Fantasy pretty much gets all that from 3rd parties, kind like Pokemon and Mario. MS has to pay for its publicity on Halo. Already big franchises for awhile like FF, Mario, and Pokemon, get all this made through partnerships already or just 3rd parties looking for cash ins. Halo isn’t as big as those to be able to get that.
Know its just Mario, Pokemon, and FF have been huge franchises for a numerous amount of year. So long that their names are household names, mainstream ya know.
The Game Fuel and whatnot weren’t creating hype for the game.
They were leeching off it. The fans hyped it. They all expected something epic since it had been made clear that Bungie was done with good old MC.
And now that Bungie is separate from MS, and MS owns the rights to Halo, it looks like Halo’s done for good. Microsoft isn’t dumb enough to ruin their top franchise by letting another developer tinker with it.
Bungie, however, has Marathon to fall back on, so we’ll probably seeing some Marathon in the near future.

Well those are much older.
But additionally, there’s a LOT more games in those franchises. That and it can appeal to a wider variety, from hardcore gamers to the casual player.
Halo tends to lean towards either hardcore gamers or annoying 8-year olds. (Seriously, why is everyone on Xbox Live 8? ; )
