btw, when i call microsoft all i get is a fricking computer talkingto me. i cant stand it. how do i talk to a real person? i need to know because when i try to register my xbox online to get it repaired it says my serial number has already been registered. i dont know y, but if i cant register it online i just cant get it fixed. help CPO??? u seem to be a master of technology and xbox.
Did you also buy a Warranty? If you have not, you can buy a 50 dollar, 2 year warranty from Best Buy. Every time your Xbox 360 breaks, they will replace it at the counter, for free, no questions asked. Even after the warranty runs out, they will allow you to buy another warranty afterwards.
I know this does not directly answer your question, but it’s a nice safeguard for your console. No matter what happens to it, they will replace it. You don’t have to send it back to MS and wait several weeks, you take a 10 minute drive and get a brand new 360. (this is how I got my 60GB model)

Just keep following instructions and you’ll get a real person eventually...

If it’s within 2 years of buying the warranty, then yes. Call them up ask ask them to clarify though.
- You must bring back everything you have from the system. controller, mic, all the cords, the console, Harddrive, etc.
- If it has been over two years, you can buy another warranty, like I said earlier.
- When at the counter trading in the 360, they may ask you if you have anything you want or still need on the harddrive. But they won’t always ask you, and you may get your saves taken away. So either back it up on a memory card or ask them if they can switch everything over.

So you’d rather wait a month rather then driving to Best Buy and getting it replaced in a few minutes?

The topic is inviting to flaming and trolling but as long as it stays as is there should be no problem. Let us keep it that way.
Anyways don’t do the towel trick as that does void your warranty. Hopefully you got a warranty with a retailer you bought it from. If not you are about to have to get involved with some of the worst customer service ever with Microsoft.

MS with its customer service tends to screw up a lot of things. They are just not fun to deal with. Never had any issues with Nintendo or Sony customer service but man MS ones are just awful.
