“I was sitting at home and had a profound experience. I experienced, in all of my Being, that someday I was going to die, and it wouldn’t be like it had been happening, almost dying but somehow staying alive, but I would just die! And two things would happen right before I died: I would regret my entire life; I would want to live it over again. This terrified me. The thought that I would live my entire life, look at it and realize I blew it forced me to do something with my life."-Hebert Selby, Jr.

I can relate to this one. I was sitting around and realized that yeah, if I grew to be old and never enjoyed and did things productive and fulfilling with my life, then I would be one unhappy old dude.

Not CT’s

It was a high counsel that I once heard given to a young person, “Always do what you are afraid to do."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes.
St. Clement of Alexandra

We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.
Ralph Waldo Emerson

Seek the lofty by reading, hearing and seeing great work at some moment every day.

The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.

I’ve heard so many quote’s like those. “Always go beyond what is impossible..." “Go past your limits." “You will never make it if you don’t try." Those quotes don’t mean anything to me.

It is very poetic, decipher it before understanding it.

You may not care for it as much as I for the fact that you do not live by a code that deals directly with the metaphoric heart and all it is about.

Watchmen was a great graphic novel with a lot of good quotes, but this one made me realise it was something really special:

Rorschach wrote:
Stood in firelight, sweltering. Bloodstain on chest like map of violent new continent. Felt cleansed. Felt dark planet turn under my feet and knew what cats know that makes them scream like babies in night. Looked at sky through smoke heavy with human fat and God was not there. The cold, suffocating dark goes on forever and we are alone. Live our lives, lacking anything better to do. Devise reason later. Born from oblivion; bear children, hell-bound as ourselves, go into oblivion. There is nothing else. Existence is random. Has no pattern save what we imagine after staring at it for too long. No meaning save what we choose to impose. This rudderless world is not shaped by vague metaphysical forces. It is not God who kills the children. Not fate that butchers them or destiny that feeds them to the dogs. It’s us. Only us. Streets stank of fire. The void breathed hard on my heart, turning its illusions to ice, shattering them. Was reborn then, free to scrawl own design on this morally blank world. Was Rorschach.
