But I’d say the Saiyan-Frieza saga is where the series peaked. It just took a seriously slide in quality after that.
Cell saga was the best, especially towards the end. Goku vs. Freiza was the best battle ever though, next Goku vs. Cell. I found the Ginyu force and that crap not very enertaining.
From the dramatic killing of all of Goku’s friends to Krillin being a major character and pole vaulted into the top of the human ranks to everyone but Bulma being useful and to Goku’s ascension to the ranks of most powerful fighter in the Universe.
The Cell saga sorta underminded the Frieza saga and the rest of Dragonball to me. Every Saiyan and their mother became 'legendary' Super Saiyans there. Gohan, Vegeta and Trunks all surpassed the level of Super Saiyan. Krillin, Tien and Yamcha were deemed insignificant. We finally see Piccolo fuse with Kami only for him to become irrelevant after two fights and surpassed by the Saiyans within 10 issues. Just absolute trash.
Don’t get me started on the Buu saga, you could tell that AT really just didn’t give a shit on that one. I enjoyed seeing Gohan in high school and think the premise of Gohan in high school fighting crime and such would have been a very entertaining spin to the series, but everything after that is utter crap.

Freiza saga only had 1 good fight. Im not done with Buu saga but its interesting so far, the snipers had just shot a old couple in the head and shot Buu’s dog.
