I think it is the metaphor or the life meaning but what you do you think it is?

I like poems because they rhyme. It’s like limericks. You enjoy the assonance (similar sounds) from combining words.
At least this is true of western poems, which rhyme in verse.

I never really understood haiku, or other forms of poems (especially freeverse), which go by syllable count or whatever.

Other than that, poem can be any way you’d like it to be, just like prose. It can be humour, philosophical, cynical, or whatever you want.

To express your thoughts and emotions, simply put. If you are sad, show the world that you are sad. If you are angry, show the world you are angry. If you are happy, show the world you are happy, show them your feelings about things in your life or things happening in politics.
