I read it.
It’s also fun to read it from the point of view of the communists, and think of the main guy as an evil insurgent who wanted nothing less than chaos and anarchy.

Well, it wasn’t a communist dictatorship that oceania was living under. I can see why the Communists would hate it. It is extremely anti-equality.

But everyone was equal. They were all family, and all shared their Big Brother. And if anyone did anything, they’d get dead. No exceptions.

No dude the proletarians were actually considered “inhuman” according to the outer party, and the inner party got all kinds of things that the outer party didn’t; real butter, good bread...

Many people that haven’t gotten to their senior or junior year in high school have not read it yet. It’s a damn good book, and it’s a good thing the schools made it mandatory where I am.
Also, yes animal farm is supposed to be good too. I also think Brave New World was amazing. That wasn’t written by Orwell though, that was Huxley.

I read this when I was in middle school. Also, I think you are implying you haven’t read Animal Farm.
Go find it, report back when done. It is as good as if not better than 1984.

I don’t see what was so dystopian about Brave New World. Everyone was happy all the time. That would be a brilliant society to live in.

If it’s that good my school district won’t pick it.We’re to busy reading stuff like:
The Most Dangerous Game
The Bronx Masquerade
The Kite Runner
Yeah that list is horrible.I’ve tried to get my school district to read good books. They don’t seem to listen.Hell I let some of my friends borrow by books and they said they were damn good. Yet,still the school system is bent on making us hate reading(and I thought they were suppose to persuade us into like reading .)
