The thing is most people don’t realize that most rappers don’t get heavy radio/tv play.Only the most commercial types do which is why you don’t get the variety of sounds of hiphop on the radio like you did back in the day.Since people only see the most watered down hiphop on Tv they think this represents all/majority of hiphop which is false.

There are about less than 15-20 commercial rappers that most people are familiar with while there are 100’s of non-commercial acts that most people that don’t follow hiphop have no knowledge of.

Mainstream is the new “image” of rap and thats what I hate.

And yes mainstream rap is what I hate. But if you can give me some good lyrics that tell a good story or somthing with a purpose and meaning. I will listen to it.

Partying, getting drunk, having sex, cheating, “playin”, and bein a gangsta are just garbage, especially when you put them in music.
