A lot can be lost in translation to dubs. Subtitles tend to be more faithful to what is said originally. This goes for more than just Japanese-English. I’d rather watch the original voices with subtitles any day.

Meh. Still gonna watch it in theaters. The other Miyazaki movies were great, and I don’t expect less of this one.

Huh, I dunno what I was thinking when I expected anyone to be excited about a new Miyazaki movie. Maybe everybody else is a veteran, and I’ve only seen two of his movies only recently, and I just don’t understand and am a noob when it comes to him. But I liked the last ones, and I enjoy his art style, and they have great animation and storylines, so whatever.

Defiantly? You mean definitely?
I wouldn’t judge it just by how it looks. Miyazaki is a god when it comes to making movies, and the soundtrack is by Joe Hisaishi, who is amazing as well.

have you seen Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, imo thats his best one but Spirited Away is really good as well.

I am excited about the movie. I’m just not excited about the US release. I intend to watch the Japanese release at my first opportunity.

I’m not judging of how it looks(I NEVER do that) these are the things I’m judging it on. 1.Disney made it right?
2.No good action.
3.Made by the same guy who made Spirited Away, and I hated that movie to.
So basically I’m not even going to see this movie, even when it’s on Cinemax.

Disney did NOT make it, Studio Ghibli did. I can see why you wouldn’t like Miyakazi’s movies, though, since he’s about storytelling, not action.

The characters just aren’t cool,I don’t care about ALL action(90%) but 2nd to the action is characters.

I know nothing about Ponyo’s characters. I thought the characters in Spirited Away were interesting and imaginative though.

Well I like characters that are like either one of these:
1.Calm,cool,collected and be bad ass at the same time(Jin from Samurai Champloo).
2.Smart but Psychotic and a backstabbing bastard(Light Yagami)
3.Or be very brutal and kill everything in site(Revy from Black Lagoon).
And the characters in Miyazaki’s films don’t even match one of these.

I do not like those kinds of characters. They’re so cliche and generic.

I don’t like characters like that because they’re hollow, a dime a dozen, and the like.
