now THIS is not only based on true events but uses Actors for the story parts of the movie {Milla Jovovich FTW} but actual footage of the real characters the actors portray for the taped questionings while under hypnosis. It looks Incredibly cool

Read this http://www.paranormalmovie.com/about2.html the idea came from the writer/director living in a house where the floorboards would creak and stuff would fall at night because the house was old and the foundation bad. He decided to set up cameras to see if he could catch anything weird on film. It dawned on him that it was a great basis for a movie so found the actors and shot it in 7 days.

that is the only way it is “based on true events” in the fact that he heard noises, got cameras and decided “Hey! this would make a cool movie idea!"
