Shaka of virgo- Saint Seiya (Masami Kurumada)
The Closest Man To God
Shaka alone of all saints occupies the rarefied
spot between God and man, but living between two
worlds has its blessings as well as curses. Part
of the near-divine reputation comes from his
power. Being the Reincarnation of Buddha* and
endowed with the most powerful cosmos of all the
saints even overpowering Libra Dohko’s and Aries
Shion’s cosmos, Shaka well deserves his
reputation as the closest man to God. Even as a
child in India, Shaka was precocious and
communed with God himself — a scene recounted in
the flashbacks moments before Shaka’s death in
the Twin Sala’s Garden. For someone whose life
has just begun, he had been unusually sensitive
to sufferings and mortality of human life.
Seeing pain and death as reflected in the Ganges
gives the boy Shaka enough despair, if not a
crisis of faith. With esoteric learning and
training, Shaka eventually became powerful
enough to don the Gold Cloth of Virgo, which he
wore even as a boy in the manga, and wise enough
to rise above human passions and attachments.
For most of his life, he would look on human
feelings with a mix of pity and compassion
without being bound to them, with charity but
not always with love. Detachment seems to be
Shaka’s answer to the poingant questions raised
by human life, and he is seeing humanity from
the point of God rather than living the
experience. He would be disabused of this
attitude in his encounter with Ikki. In the end,
Shaka would have to remember that he is a man,
as well, and return to whence he came.
•As in the Hindu tradition sometimes Budha is
called the incarnation of the goddess Vishnu, in
some translations of the history, Shaka is
considered the reincarnation of Vishnu herself.
In this case, he can be compared to Saori Kido
and Julian Solo, it means, he is called an
Avatar too, having the same level of power. This
also may be the explanation to the need of three
Gold Saint evoke the “Athena’s Exclamation”, a
power with the same level of the Big Bang, to
defeat him. And even after receiving this
destructive power, his massive cosmos allows him
to come back and to send a final message to
Saori in form of spirit.
In the Hades arc, however, Dohko revealed the
true reason behind Shaka’s moniker as the man
closest to God: Shaka was the first one to
experience the eighth sense, Arayashiki (Alaya
-Vijnana), alive, whereas other mortals would
experience the eighth sense only after death-
-after they have lost the seven preceding senses.
vs
Dark Schneider –Bastard (Kazushi Hagiwara)
Dark Schneider is the most powerful sorcerer in
the world, which he almost completely took over
before being imprisoned in the body of a little
boy by Grand (or Great) Priest Geo. Lecherous,
comical, and exhibitionist are the best words to
describe him. In many pf his fights he is
completly nude but there is always a shadow on
his groin. He enjoys letting his enemies think
the have killed him, even allowing them to cut
him in half, just to come back and defeat them.
Rushe is soft-spoken and had a crush on Yoko,
which carried over to Dark Schneider. Rushe and
Dark Schneider share the same soul, which means
they love what each other loves, but that is
where it ends: Dark Schneider can be incredibly
evil, heartless and lecherous, whereas Rushe is
faithful, quiet and friendly. Dark Schneider is
immortal (though whether this is conferred upon
Rushe is unclear) - he can resurrect himself
through willpower alone. In the English version,
he is also called the Mage of Fire, and, in the
Japanese, The Exploder Wizard. Whenever Rushe is
kissed by Yoko, or another virgin, Dark
Schneider is released, and when Dark Schneider
is kissed, Rushe is released, and so on, though
Dark Schneider can break the seal himself when
extremely angry, and he can control Lushe’s body
at certain times of night (re-gaining his powers
for a while in the process).
Based on what I read about Saint Seiya it is good.As for this debate I currently really don’t know. Shaka is called the man closest to god and DS is currently only slightly inferior to the devil.I probably need to read both series completely before I can answer.
Shaka’s fighting style strikes the eye above all with a
sense of style. Shaka fights in consummate form — with just
a flick of wrist and the barest hint of athletecism. The
economy of movements stands in stark contrast with the
blood, sweat and toil of other warriors. The Buddhist
-inspired mudras (poses) struck by Shaka hide an inhuman
discipline, intensity and nerve all under a gesture of
grace.
Yet, Shaka is not all style and little substance. He can
attack the enemy and defend himself at the same time. This
two-sided fighting style often turns the weapons and
techniques of an adversary against himself. When the
Bronze saints invaded the House of Virgo, Shaka rebounded
the attacks on him — and also their damages — to their
originators. This aspect of Shaka’s combat, doing unto
others what they have done to him, is almost divine, as
within minutes the three standing bronze saints — Shun,
Seiya and Shiryu — are thrown on all fours and will remain
so for the rest of the confrontation with Shaka.
Shaka’s approach usually aims at paralysis, not just
physical but mental. His moves seem immaterial partly
because he plays mind games by conjuring illusions, as
duelling with Shaka is much more a battle of will than
mere fist-swinging. He targets the five human senses -
-sight, touch, taste, smell and hearing — to cripple the
adversary’s body in combat. Yet, he ultimately aims to
disintegrate the adversary’s consciousness and the mind’s
control over the body. That does not mean Shaka is
invincible. Saga in the Hades chapter was able to block
Shaka’s attacks on Hades' spectres, but was unable to
counter Shaka’s Tenbu H¨rin and Ikki, who caught Shaka by
surprise and carried off him on a suicidal run by trying
to burn up his own cosmos.
Tenbu H¨rin. The Tenbu H¨rin (Dance of Heavenly Wheels) (ÌìÎè
ŚšÝ†) is the epitome of this approach and Shaka’s ultimate
strike against an opponent. It traps the opponent into a
matrix of illusions (normally Buddhist in nature), and
destroys him through five stages. Each stage obliterates
one of the opponent’s five human senses cumulatively. And
if that’s not enough, as it was the case for Ikki, Shaka
can remove the opponent’s 6th sense, effectively shutting
down the brain. As a result, the opponent’s life is
sustained only by his or her cosmos; this last detail is
what makes this technique a “double-edge” one, because if
the opponent has a really strong will, it can use all the
energy used by the other senses to get the seventh sense
and even to maximize it to unreal levels. This is what
happened with Ikki: with the loss of all other senses,
Ikki was able to shunt all his energies to the seventh
sense and surpass by far Shaka’s cosmos.
Rikud¨ Rinne (Cycle of Six Incarnations) (ÁùµÀ݆»Øis a
strictly illusion-only move where Shaka traps the opponent
into one of six deadly worlds, usually after a tour of
each. These worlds include: Jigokukai The Realm of Hell,
Gakikai: The Realm of Hungry Ghosts, Chiku-Shokai: The
Realm of Beasts, Shurakai: The Realm of the Demigods,
Jinkai: The Realm of Men, and Tenkai: The Realm of Heaven.
“Jigokukai” A sea of fire, a mountains of needles and
endless terror. Those who go there shall fall for all
eternity, writhing in agony.
“Gakikai” Your body shall wither to skin and bones, and
your belly shall become bloated and distended. Your hunger
will lead you to feed on carrion forever.
“Chikushokai” A world in which the strong eat the weak. If
you want to kill your opponent, you kill him, if you want
to devour him, devour him. A beastly world.
“Shurakai” Blood and carnage! You will be forced to fight
without rest for eternity.
“Jinkai” An unstable world whose inhabitants are slaves to
emotion, unable to devote themselves to either good or
evil.
“Tenkai” It is called paradise, but at any moment you can
slip and fall into Chikushokai, Gakikai, or Jigokukai.
This is the most perilous of all realms.
The two above attacks are based on the Buddhism concept of
the wheel of life.
Tenma K¨fuku (Taming the Demons) (Ììħ½µ·ü is
Shaka’s “standard” attack that deals physical damage to
his enemies and is quite effective against enemies en
masse. It invokes the image of a virgin maiden waving a
scythe while riding on horseback through piles of
skeletons along with angels all around, appear to those it
targets, thus very effectively creating a mixture of
harmony and corruption. It is presumed that the technique
will do extra damage to those with evil in their will.
Khan, the Siddham character for The Immovable One"Kahn” ,
meaning Immobility in Siddham, is a defensive move that
summons a shield to protect Shaka from incoming attacks
and even to hide the presence of his cosmos. The energy
can also be manipulated as a means to gather his cosmos in
one force (usually his opened palms) to prepare for more
devastating attacks, such as the “Tenbu H¨rin” or
the “Tenma K¨fuku."
In addition to his main techniques, Shaka is equipped with
the standard Gold Saint’s fare of light speed abilities,
as well as with extraordinary telekinetic powers. His
command of telekinesis rivals close to that of Aries Mu, a
well-established master of the art and a fellow Gold
Saint. Finally, while all of his techniques are deadly to
those below Gold Saint level, their power can be
heightened even further if Shaka chooses to open his eyes
and release all restrains on his Cosmo. It is said that
Shaka can destroy all that in front of his eyes. A common
mistake most of the audience makes at the beginning is
assuming he is blind. In reality, he is restraining the
release of his immense cosmo.
The war between Athena and Hades God of hell finish With the Gold Saints Sacrificing bodies and Souls to allow the bronce Saints, now equal or more powerful that the golden Saints, reach Elisius, place were only Gods could exist, and there Seiya and the Others defeat Hades, to do so Seiya got mortally wonded by hades sword. And then he got into coma.
After some thinking I still don’t know who to give this fight to.Both are redicously strong, both move faster than light, and have extremely powerful attacks.DS so far has the advantage because it appears he has more attacks and can take more attacks.
Umm, i wish you post some scans about DS powers to see it, i know is dificult, i will post more about Shaka, think is Shaka is not the a principal character in Saint seiya, but the few times he show we see how powerful he is, to defeat him i was neccesary 3 gold saints, include Saga, and i didn´t kill him, 3 gold saints together produce and attack call Athena exclamation, it has in his ratio the destructive power of a big bang, and Shaka ascend to the 8 sense, that only dead people have, but he did it alive, then all the Saints follow him, there they could fight in Hades realm.
I lost nearly all my Bastard files when my computer died. So for now I’ll have to give you the ultimate Bastard Directory. It gives you a sample of DS power but not the full thing.I’ll try to download them again when I get the chance.
